I was reading about dreams last night and found it interesting that we are only able to dream about people we have seen before in our waking lives. That includes faces we see on adverts, tv, magazines or in real life. So anybody in your dreams is a face you have recognised somewhere before.

I pondered on this and the science behind it and wondered if it was the same for places. Are the places and environments in our dreams places that we have been to or seen before in our waking lives whether on tv/books or real life?

I have had dreams in houses and buildings and places that I know I have never been to before or seen before anywhere so it made me think of the possibilty of alternate realities or a past-life where I would have been to or seen these places that occured in my dreams.

Its a real interesting conundrum, dreams are endlessly fascinating to me...what are your thoughts Ed?

I started looking into dreams because one night I had a random dream I was at a party and there was a guys face that stood out to me for some reason, I didnt know him but he was prominent in my dream.

Anyway a few weeks later I was on facebook and I randomly saw him in one of my friends pictures...it was the only pic he was in out of hundreds and theres no way I had seen that pic before. I asked my mate who he was and he said he had come over from USA for the first time so there was no way id have met him before.

I was totally dumbfounded, truly and utterly paralysed with shock. Truly it blew my mind to unimaginable proportions,honestly. It sounds so silly and trivial but to me it has changed my whole perspective of life, there's so much more to life than we all know and the brain is an incredible organ. {Ed001's Note - dreams are still unknown to us, the chances are though that we just use them to interpret our life. You might have seen the pic and taken no notice, but your unconscious mind saw the face and couldn't figure out who it was, so the face was in your dream to jog you into finding out.}

Indeed i think the stat is we get 110 items of information a second and the conscious brain can only process something like 10 per cent of that, not sure on the exact figures. the subconscious however can process much more data so retains more which filters through into dreams.

I had a dream once about being in a swimming pool in Greece, a few weeks later I went on holiday with my family to Greece and on the website for the hotel, saw the exact same image of the pool, still find it weird now.

My wife went through weeks of dreaming of houses, all different, some she knew some she didn't, but all revolved round grand kids. Not sure of where but pretty sure of who

It's fascinating, but to say "we are only able to dream about people we have seen before in our waking lives" as you have read or been told, i simply don't believe it, not at all. Why are we always trying to put limitations on things, and categorize things as if they are different and unconnected to each other. T'is a major human folly of "intelligence" is how i see it.

GBI, if you're interested in bigfoot you should watch Lloyd Pye human origins video, it's on for about 1h50 but well worth the watch.

Watched paranormal witness last night, abou travis walton who was allegedly abducted by aliens back in 1975. just wonderin ever1s opinion? Glenn77 {Ed002's Note - We did not abduct him, he is making it up to give us a bad name.}

Travis is telling the truth, why would he lie? {Ed001's Note - I am never convinced by these alien abduction stories, personally. Lots of people make things up for attention.}
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
He passed a lie detector and all the four loggers WHO witnessed it......?? Gotta be somet in it...

Matty b {Ed001's Note - a lie detector can be beaten and has been regularly. There might be something in it, but you do only have the word of 5 people, nothing else, so it is impossible to be sure either way.}
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
Ed, what do you make of some people being abducted and having little chips put in them and when surgeons get them out they disintegrate.
i think 99% of alien abductions are just made up.

JK92 {Ed001's Note - I am not convinced it is anything to do with aliens.}
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
I watched a programme with Steven Hawking in a few weeks ago on the subject and he said why would aliens travel millions of light years to take a person who are on their own and are most often under the influence of alcohol and or drugs? I think surely they could realise who to abduct if they could come all this way
LP {Ed001's Note - I agree with him completely.}
Agree · 1 · Disagree · 0
It makes me laugh when intelligent people ask why would any intelligent being abduct or tagg any human being ?maybe we have different personalities and so different ,maybe some of us have special abilities ?who knows ,maybe its the same reason we tagg wildlife in its habitat we are still finding out new stuff about different wildlife every year,could it not be the same with abductions?as for travis walton i DO think he was abducted either alien or military ,my guess it was a military black program .
frankyscouse {Ed001's Note - I just look at it this way, an alien race capable of getting to the surface undetected would almost certainly be able to abduct someone without leaving witnesses.}

the media in this country are pathetic. If they hadn't spent so much time fawning over kate being in hospital (because no-one's ever been pregnant before) then those two australians wouldn't have gone with the prank call, then that poor silly nurse (as if the queen would really phone a hospital, common sense) wouldn't have ended up killing herself, after a media frenzy. But i put the blame for this with the royals. {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt that any of that is relevant to the nurse's death.}

13 Dec 2012 23:45:45
The nurse did not commit suicide.
Agree · 5 · Disagree · 0
I agree. She was killed which was ordered by a member of the royals.

and you two can prove that can you? Of course not. Now if the second nurse, the one who gave all the patient details to the radio station, if that nurse turns up dead in the next few weeks then you might have a case. I do to an extent agree with the original post. The media circus around someone who until fairly recently was just an ordinary person, a nobody, created the conditions where this could happen. Personally i'm not the slightest bit bothered what that family does and am not sure on the fascination with them. Just a posher version of eastenders.
Agree · 3 · Disagree · 0
I actually feel sorry for the two radio DJs. They clearly played a prank on the wrong person and now they will probably suffer for the rest of their lives.

I think this woman killed herself due to the pressure heaped onto her by the private hospital. We sadly live in a world ruled by the blame culture. Her bosses will have crucified her if it meant them escaping the blame.
Sad that we have created this world where our bosses/managers career plans rule our lives. We are all just stepping stones for them to move up another level.
On a Conspiracy level - is this not what "they" want ?? The common person so frightened of losing their jobs/homes/lifestyles? Who would dare stand up to the system when they have so much to lose now? {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt the hospital would have done anything other than just reprimand her and move on. This whole 'news' story is just nothing and shouldn't be headline news, just let the family be.}

I found this video on YT very interesting. Zero Point uncovers the messages expressed through ancient monuments worldwide, examines various maps, monuments and artifacts which seem to reveal great secrets about the nature of time, our past and our future.

to the crypto animal debate, they found a 6ft chimp living in the congo, if that can go unnoticed for so long then surely other animals in the area can, animals that live in water or or semi aquatic.

I don't have a typing stutter, that was meant to be 1 or.
Agree · 2 · Disagree · 0
You're thinking of 'the Bili Ape'....it wasn't quite 6ft. It was rumoured, from local tribes, to be a new species of unknown grey ape, 6ft or taller, which had no fear of any predator and regularly killed big cats.

Turned out to be an isolated, somewhat different type of chimp, not as tall as a man but bigger than normal, as I remember.

But yeah proves some animals can outgrow their usual size in isolation, and breed in isolaion!

RED_SKY, that's the one, but it says on the websites i found it on that it grows between 6ft-6ft 5inch.

also has anyone seen what a snow bear looks like, really strange, lives in the same area as the yeti.
Agree · 3 · Disagree · 0
Anyone interested in cryptozoology should read John keel's the mothman prophecies. Don't worry about the name it's nothing like the terrible movie with Richard gere. More of an exploration of supernatural and cryptozoological phenomena which offers an alternate explanation rather than the usual stuff. Should check it out

6-6ft 5in?! Not saying its false but that would be mental!

That surely can't be classed as a chimp, haha!

Ive read a bit about a cryptid bear-like creature that gets confused with the yeti but the name escapes me, same thing? Or an actual bear?

Is there any1 out there who could put to rest a question ive always asked myself. I've always had a keen intrest on nature and wildlife and ofcoarse the myths and mysterious that surround them (big foot, Lochness monster) I would like to know is it possible for animals to grow to gigantic sizes? Like some human beings that get a tumor on the part of the brain that causes excessive growth (7-8ft tall) has any animal ever had this?

GBI

There are still some animals and insects classed as giants of there species, but as for nessy im sorry thats a tourist prank that was debunked years ago, bigfoot is another matter theres a lot of good eye witnesses but nothing ever caught yet but there are reasons u cant catch it, if u research ancient monsters some of there seem plausable others maybe mis-interpreted. {Ed001's Note - Nessie hasn't been debunked, though it is extremely unlikely to be true, it is still perfectly possible for a sea creature to enter the loch and leave it without being observed.}
Agree · 2 · Disagree · 0
As far as Nessie goes nothing can leave the loch. A loch is like a lake it has nothing flowing into it? It is believed it used to have a river flowing into it but during the ice age it became enclosed and became a loch trapping a sea creature from the ice age era? {Ed001's Note - not true, there are a number of entrances underwater, that has been the whole reason that it has never been completely debunked. You do realise that a lake is fed by rivers or streams right?}
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
I think there could have been a sea monster there once but i think it's probably dead by now. Weren't gorillas considered to be a myth at one point? I think very soon a Bigfoot/Sasquatch could become a recognised animal
LP
Agree · 4 · Disagree · 0
Like lp gorillas were considered extinct years ago and panda bears,i seen some program last week and the found a new colony of silverback gorillas in africa what amazed the experts was the numbers, 3 thousand gorillas were found , something that big and was not found before, i do believe in bigfoot to many sightings around the world and the patterson tape,as for nessie i am open minded , they have done the sonar scan and found nothing but they also admitted there are probably prehistoric caves under the loch , i need more proof to be convinced thou.
