Documentary about how they manipulate the minds of the masses and make people docile. Part 1

In the 1920s, Edward Bernays created the field of public relations and was the first to apply Sigmund Freud's (Bernays' Uncle) theories of mass manipulation. He taught American businesses how to subtly appeal to people's subliminal wants by associating mass-produced commodities with things they didn't need.

As a key developer of contemporary mass-consumer persuasion strategies, Bernays employed every trick in the book, from eroticising the automobile to celebrity endorsements and absurd public relations stunts.

His most well-known accomplishment was convincing women that smoking cigarettes was a sign of freedom and independence, thus shattering the taboo against it.

However, Bernays was certain that this was more than just a ploy to market consumer products. It was a novel political concept for maintaining mass control. Content people were obedient, since they satisfied the deep, irrational impulses that his uncle had discovered.

It marked the beginning of the all-consuming self that has taken over the modern world.

The Spiders Web - Britain's Second Empire (Full Documentary)

This documentary describes how the United Kingdom went from being a colonial superpower to becoming a major player in the global financial system. It implies that up to half of all offshore wealth (globally) is concealed in one of the numerous British offshore jurisdictions, and that the City of London Corporation and its banks have caused enormous harm to the global economy since the 1960s. The video tries to show how corruption and secrecy have trumped regulation and openness in the world of international banking, with the UK at the centre of it, and features contributions from eminent experts, academics, former insiders, and social justice activists.
