While UFO hunters claim that the mystery chunk of metal was brought to Earth by aliens, some experts dispute this.

Local historian Mihai Wittenberger says that the object is actually a metal piece from a World War II German aircraft.

He believes that it is a piece of the landing gear from a Messerschnmitt ME 262.

However, this does not explain the age of the artefact, claim the investigators.

Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, told MailOnline that the object could be wreckage from a satellite, which may explain why it was kept secret back in 1973.

The only source not named is the lab, which I find odd.

I believe the article says a laboratory in Switzerland. The problem with carbon dating it is so skewed. If you believe the Indian myths, and by extension the Maya, and as postulated above there are too many coincidences for it to be accidental, then something happened in the past that makes carbon dating unreliable.

Good one ed. There is growing evidence that someone with a level of intelligence was here before us. From the Hindu gods that battled in the sky with flying chariots to the half man half animal Egyptian gods making people in clay vats to the annunaki who supposedly made humans to mine for gold and we were forbidden to depict them in there true form. I find them all interesting and well worth a read.

Its been 53 years since the Kennedy assassination and files are still with held from the public so I wouldn't hold my breath over files from 15 years ago seeing the light of day anytime soon.

This is probably the most talked about conspiracy these days but just so much more info is coming forward now. Does anyone think the US gov. Will eventually release the last of the classified files or do you think any real documents to do with an investigation has long been destroyed, warped or manipulated? If I had the mentality and the resources to pull off one of the biggest terrorist acts the world has ever seen I would definitely destroy anything / anyone who knew anything close to the truth so I'm sure the real evil people would also do the same.

In my opinion it is another act of nativity along with the Black brant scare that was a ploy to see how Russia would act. Trying to provoke through an innocent means allegedly. I'm no animal expert however the print doesn't look ape like because what seems to be the thumb is on the right side. If it was an ape like creature would it not have to walk on the back of there hands for the thumb to be on the right. Like I say I'm no animal expert just throwing a theory out there.

To give some idea of what went on back home. All flights were cancelled except for reconnaissance. All units in Poland and the DDR were on stand by. And plans were in place to start moving ICBMs by rail to launch sites. The army and defence ministry were convinced nato were gearing up to a strike. The politburo was split between striking first before nato could or waiting for nato to act first as the aggressor.

There's a book using declassified data that could be useful.

It was the closest since the Cuban Missile crisis in 1962. The old fools on the politburo were convinced it was the start of a war rather than just a larger than normal exercise. Their first reaction was to counter mobilise and they were very close to pressing the button. Fortunately wiser heads prevailed and they finally listened to what we from the embassies, particularly London and DC were providing. We were frantically scrambling around all available sources looking for confirmation. At the end of it all we worked our way through a large case of the embassies best vodka usually saved for formal occasions like the anniversary of the revolution and slept for two days.

During the HoC Syria debate Johnson accused Russia of war crimes in Syria. He also said the Stop the War Coalition should protest outside the Russian embassy. Irony as STWC receives funding from where?
