I'm just pointing out that what you call a police state isn't as close to other polices that are police states. Try present day Bahrain and see how that compares.

kim again comparing cold war russia to what is happening now is unfair, its like saying there is not racial tension in America but if you go back to the civil rights movement then that was real racial tension, in other words it does not have to be a carbon copy of what has gone before it.

The American air force has been bombing Syria all year mainly from Turkish air bases and their carriers in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf. The British have been bombing Iraq all year sanctioned by parliament all year and Syria unsanctioned by parliament the last couple of months. Unofficially both British and American special forces have been in both Iraq and Syria all year.

The Russian air force has been bombing for the last few weeks. Special forces have been in operation for the same time. There has been unconfirmed reports of coffins arriving at Sevastopol.

Cctv cameras don't prove identity. Nor does mobile phone tracking. i'd cards do. When they come in, and Brussels would like to. Then see the abuse of power.

When you have police on all domestic trains and flights able to question you, search you and even throw you off with no reason given then that's a police state.

When you see or hear of people disappearing in the night for remarks they've made previously then that's a police state.

For those that don't know Novocherkassk in June 1962 Khrushchev raised the prices of meat and butter throughout the soviet union. At the same time production quotas were separately raised effectively decreasing wages.

The workers of the locomotive plant in Novocherkassk having had they're complaints ignored went in strike. The resulting two days of civil disobedience led to troops entering the town and left 26 dead 87 wounded and 116 arrested.

That's a police state.

i am going to school with my friends, we are 10 or 11, a unmarked car screeches in front of us, two huge men get out the car and tell us to line up against a wall, thinking they could be pedos we run, cut a long story short they show there undercover badges and slap kick all of us for running then tell us to get to school, that is a small example of toxteth in the thatcher era,
I stand by my claim we are living in a police state .

Was there even a need for 20 in the first place investigating such an old crime? They only got such sizeable commitment because of the high profile and who they are/ are connected to.

Lots of children go missing and it gets swept under the carpet. But this gets treated differently.

Maybe. But till you open re education facilities, have people on the streets asking for your documentation, encourage people to actively spy on each other and have a general atmosphere of fear, suspicion and mistrust its not the same. You want to see a modern police state go to Beijing or Shanghai or Pyongyang or Riyadh.
