The Foley video is not a beheading video. It's main content is the two speeches.
Foley reads from a cue card and having spent 2 years in captivity is incredibly brave in doing so; he looks broken and must've been petrified, he knew what was coming.
The decapitator is certainly British and he gives a long speech on the US bombing both ISIS directly and the many other innocent people that Drones hit regularly without making the news.
The video cuts after a second of the knife entering Foley's throat and returns to show his bloodied head placed on his body's chest.
What I find interesting is the media and Govt. narrative. UK Police warn 'people who share the video could be breaking the law'. Sharing the video? What does that mean? Sharing the file? Nobody shares a file, we just send links. And what is illegal about the video as it isn't graphic? Plenty of Mexican beheading videos out there if you wish to search for them.
The Police warning is in my view to dissuade people from watching the bulk of the content, the speeches. This helps the Govt. and media control the narrative: we have a new bad guy and must act. our bombs are gathering dust and need using somewhere.
No mention in the media of Assad being their main opposition, no mention that the media blamed Assad for Foley's kidnapping in the first place, or mention of the arming of ISIS with US hardware via their wins in Iraq - which the US stood by and allowed to happen.
ISIS are now 'our biggest threat' and will continue to be so until they get back into Syria and focus on destabilizing Assad. All roads lead to Iran's oilfields.
That FB, twitter etc are using this to introduce censorship is disappointing but inevitable as it gits the West's agenda to maintain control over the news and therefore our thoughts. This is where new technology comes in and distributed social networks will take off. Look up Twister. net. co for example.
As a side, I'm sickened that the Foley incident and 'Ice Bucket Challenge' are being used to take our mind of the continuing war crimes in Gaza.

Have we analyzed why censorship invokes such reactions from people?
Could it be because it is in contrast to the idea of freedom of expression.
Have we observed the results of fool-proofing (kid (translates to goat)-proofing) society?
If the present is to be used as a guide, it would point to a chain-reaction (critical mass effect) by which everyone becomes a fool.
Franky's argument is valid. I prefer uninhibited access to information and trust myself to either know what I am doing, or being enough of a blessed fool to learn even more.
People are responsible for what they surround themselves with and what they choose to focus their energy on.
Personal responsibility is a prerequisite to freedom.
Censorship is a slippery slope to days past. Days of book burnings and other such tragic events, have taught us enough to not require revisiting.
To conclude, beheadings are nothing more than another form of unnecessary violence. The amount of publicity they receive stems from some people's fear of mortality and their preference to a state of self imposed ignorance.
There are far more destructive acts acted against people, for which even fewer attempts at justification can be provided. As no doubt, everyone in this forum knows.
As others have noted before on this site, there is a growing trend whereby mass exploitation reports which do not attract the industry's expected conductors, reach them immediately after being censored.
The act of censoring is used not only for insulating information from their respective conductors, but also for conducting disinformation to their respective insulators.

I am going to play devils advocate, would we all not want to see if the real bin laden was killed in Pakistan a couple of years ago?another example let's say jfk was president now and the same thing happened and he got assassinated and got part of his head blown off and they censored that because it was too gruesome then we would never have the footage to prove it was more than one shooter.

In my opinion social media shouldn't show extremely graphic images/videos, that could easily be seen by people who either didn't want to see it, or people who thought they wanted to see it but then wish they hadn't, such as impressionable children. i'm all for freedom of speech/expression but you can't "un-see" something, as Franky and Ryan alluded, so in my opinion then, yes censorship should be used.
Also to the last anonymous post, no I don't think its wise to let grieving families decide what is best, as they are to emotionally involved, and a better option is to let a third independent party decide, as they are more likely to come to a rational conclusion. For example if it was my family murdered I would want the world to see what had happened, without perhaps thinking of the consequences, or implications on individuals.
I just want to point out I have never seen one of these videos, but have actively had to avoid seeing them, as friends have many times tried to show me them and I have actually physically left the room until it had finished. So I for one am glad that every time I go on to facebook I don't have these images shoved down my throat.

Why glorify the actions of terrorists and death cultists and give them the propaganda they seek to reach out towards other sick minds.
Also the actual validity of some of these photos are questionable. Recent examples include the picture of the little girl being pepper sprayed, purportedly in America, actually it was in brazil. And some, but not all, of the Gaza pictures actually being from Syria.

I saw a video of Iraqi soldiers being beheaded and to be honest I wish I hadn't. It was sickening, and I don't want to see another one myself.
I agree it should be everyones choice to watch or not, but maybe on twitter it's a bit too easy for someone to casually click a link. The stuff is out there for anyone who cares to look for it.
