Ed07. Sorry but you are abusing your position. I have an opposing viewpoint from yours and I fail to see what gives you the right to be so demeaning. How about a little bit of humility and let's agree to disagree?

No. Just disappointed at your aggressive and personally insulting statement. Your passion is maybe overriding your better judgement. I feel saddened that this site has been poisoned by this divisive debate. I will continue to enjoy the conspiracies but steer clear of this topic from now on. : (

JK your the one who is throwing insulting adjectives about. Typical no campaigner, hey but your on the side of the Orange Order that bastion of fairness, forward thinking liberal morality and social inclusiveness. Think come September the nineteenth you may get a shock at what the people of Scotland want for a future!

Is this really a conspiracy topic? Or another political propoganda machine for mr Salmond. I take mild offence at the liberal use of the word "we". The majority of Scots are happy to be British and want nothing to do with the Nationalists. I find it amazing on a free thinking site like this that people think dumping Westminster for Edinburgh would somehow create some kind of socialist utopia. Look behind the lies and stop being so blinkered folks. This divisiveness and stirred up hatred may be just what the elite are hoping for.

Its simple numbers the whisky industry brings in nearaly £4billion a year, £220 mill from golg tourism and oil over £10 billion a year so yeah its simple numbers. This vote for independence is not a vote to get rid of England, Wales and Northern Ireland but it IS a vote to get rid of Westminster. People in Scotland have Never voted any Tory party in and will never vote them in either, so why should we as a nation listen to them when they say its better together? Did you know that Scotland has located oil just off of Shetland and just off of he Isle of Arran, did you know that the Scottish Government has bought Prestwick airport in order to fly helicopters from there for the rigs? No thought not!

So KJ because we want to run our own country, rather having Tory boys dictating to us, we are all fanatics. I would hope we can keep this serious chat rather than rhetorical insults.

I didn't realise the site had become another place invaded by SNP/YES fanatics. The truth is nearly all politicians are at best lying crooks. let's look for truth and not suck up their lies.

Its simple numbers. Population of 5.3 million versus England's near ten times that number. What's the unemployment rate in Scotland at the moment. Where's the money coming from to fund everything. Remember its jointly owned and who put the money up to start with.

You missed off Mandela and the ira guys as well.

Obama was a really strange one. Utterly bizarre.

I think the next one is between Putin and Netanyahu. Maybe a joint award?

If businesses move out of Scotland in the event of a yes vote then in the capatalist era we're in surely means someone will come in and take its place. It would make no sense to do that. Tesco for example said they wouldn't leave why should they its for the Scottish people to decide and we'll still be here.

I'm a yes voter and I like to stress that it is no way anything to do with hating the English as some people are stating online or on interviews from sly news. I believe Westminster/London has separated itself from the rest of the U. K and I'm voting yes so scotland can make its own decision for its self and for many other reasons but to many to list.
As for salmond I ain't voting for him on the 18th by that logic you would only vote no cause u like Cameron

To the above anonymous poster!
Think you have been reading one of project fears posters.
Firs of all, you state most of the big companies based in Scotland would leave post independence and head south. Care to explain your reasoning behind this comment?
Scotland as a major oil and gas producer, exporter could lower the fuel duty for internal consumption meaning Scotland would in a commercial market be very attractive to international investment. You ask what would happen to our share of debt (the debt unionist governments have accrued). What about the share of assets Scotland would gain? You state Scotland won`t get the pound, Britain is not the only place who use the pound a a currency!. I would favor a Scottish pound with parity with the rest of the UK for a period of five years (I believe after that period the Scottish economy/pound will be stronger than the rest of the UKs). The reason why the countries you have mentioned where in financial trouble was more to do with international banking greed and criminality, especially the dumping of American sub prime debt on to the world markets. The old oil is running out chestnut, Iv`e been hearing that from the seventies when oil was first found! just when the British government were going cap in hand to the IMF for hand outs, then realized there was oil said it`s ok we don`t need the loans anymore. There was exploration rigs set up on the Firth of Clyde in the eighties, and they found massive oil and possible gas deposits too, but were hushed up as the MOD didn`t want oil industry about the faslane nuclear base. Experts believe there could be trillions of pounds worth of oil of the west coast of Scotland. I`m sure Scotland could fund an army, as we would`nt be getting involved in Americas foreign policy mess, like Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya to name but a few. Faslane would be Scotlands main naval base, Faslane does not support the local community, you had a look at Helensburgh lately, very rundown! You claim " what would happen to the NHS". The torys are privatizing the NHS in England bit by bit. Another Tory lie, free proscription charge et al. don`t you know we pay for these services through taxes.

Lenny most of the big companies based in Scotland will pull out and head south leading to mass unemployment.

What happens to your share of the debt? Its royal bank of Scotland after all.

You won't get the pound as your currency so Salmond will have you in the euro in a blink. Not a good move as the Greeks, Italians, Spanish, Irish and Portuguese will attest.

The oil is running out.

What happens to all the Scottish army units. An independent Scotland can't afford them and London won't pay for them so come the next round of defence cuts there all gone.

Close the nuclear sub bases and they all get moved south. But what happens to the local businesses that rely on those bases.

What happens to the nhs, what happens to free perscriptions. Free university places.

Irs been badly thought out and the snp have no answers.

Being Scottish this is our chance to break free.

I feel if we do this maybe 10/15 years away another parts of the UK & north England will vote too.

I am a yes voter however yes or no I think it will come down to 1%. I was still in nappies when Thatcher was in power so I didn't feel the affect of her however I don't know any good word she done for Scotland other than the NHS & buying you're council home.

Labour in Scotland is broken, best bet would be independent with Labour running it.

I have also heard that the PM is going to stay in Scotland for the last 2 weeks of the campaign which in IMO a bad idea. To throw into the mix I have heard HSBC & city link have told their employees if Scotland leave the UK they will move the business down south purely for tax reasons, this could be hear say though.

If Scotland voted no we would be the only country in the world to reject independence (I think) also if we get it & then Barcelona what's stopping anyone else doing it in England/UK?

Lenny
