Conditioning makes people regard establishment propaganda as reality.
How would those people then, be able to realize that they are in the presence of a genius?

The majority of them would be dismissive due to their amplified insecurities, while the rest would immediately label the unusual (extraordinary) as lunacy.
To recognize a genius one needs to be a genius.
Otherwise, we are only talking about establishment endorsed authority figures.

Subjectivity aside, technology has evolved to the point that to cross from theory to practice one needs capital backing.
With myth as teacher, advanced intelligence and vast resources are rarely concentrated on the same vessel.
Internal and external wealth are probably mutually exclusive.
