Is it not a bit dangerous to be making huge decisions based on who is the nicer/ nastier guy?

Who gets to define 'nice guy' anyway? Someone with our interests at heart or someone looking out for TPTB? That is what worries me.

Also, Saddam may be in a different league in many respects but out of the 2 who's actions have led to the most deaths worldwide?

Yes Bush started wars to prop up the dollar and the oil companies, but i'm not aware of him locking up political rivals or people who crossed him or his family, mutilating their families in from of them and torturing them to death afterwards. Bush's ethics may be unpalatable but Hussein was on a different planet. The postings noone wanted was the middle east ones, and the stories I heard from friends were horrific. Luckily the majority of my career took me around western Europe.

Not a nice man at all. I knew colleagues who had middle east postings and some of the stories I heard regards the Hussein's and the Assad's were enough to turn your stomach. Far worse than anything that happened at Lubyanka or Lefortovo.

Listening to the ex uk un ambassador, sir Jeremy Greenstock, on the news tonight justifying the war on Iraq and giving reasons why we had to remove Sadam Hussain, despite NOT finding WMD, included; not a nice man and was a threat to Israel.

Hey Jedi,

The eastern mediterranean is one of the most significant areas on this planet in the way it affects geopolitical interests.
The control of its vast resources, trade routes and strategic location has been fought over since ancient times.
Most of what we've come to identify as empires, both rose and fell according to their control of this area.

If the control of the eastern mediterranean was left to the nations and states that border it or was seized by an "opposing" interest e. g. Russia, the establishments reach would be limited and thus their interests would incur great damages.
Additionally, the number of foreign military bases in the surrounding area alludes to its continued occupation and to it serving as a permanent excursion outpost.

In regards to the militants and the latest war drum beating, a detached view will provide the most insights.
Militants require training and equipment, which costs.
The money must be coming from somewhere as donation trays wouldn't cover the expenses.
Furthermore, this sunni-shiite conflict mirrors the catholic-protestant conflict experienced in Ireland.

My conclusion would be that the establishment is encountering too many difficulties in controlling the general area and are thus attempting to further divide the surrounding nations and states.
This will in turn further destabilize the region and in all likelihood provide the establishment with the necessary public outcry to formalize the accession of these nations and states to the orderly union.

This is a complex situation involving that dreaded word religion, the top and tail of it bush and Blair have stirred a hornets nest in a tinderbox region and they sit back waiting for it to explode then come in like the Calvary preaching about democracy, bush and blair should be tried like Saddam Hussein for war crimes and whatever the punishment they should serve it to them.

This really has nothing to do with Israel. The likes of Syria and Iraq haven't been a military threat for decades. They beat them in every war after all. Israels long term concerns remain Iran for the obvious reason of potential nuclear threats and the terrorist groups operating that are largely funded by Iran. The behind the scenes thinking in Israel is that hopefully the long term picture is that its neighbours settle down and become more democratic and less hostile depriving the Palestinians of support. I know of one senior Israeli figure who has said that current events in Syria and Iraq are beneficial as the situation is sucking jihadist fighters in to those conflicts and away from Israel and Lebanon so certainly there is an element that doesn't mind what's going on. But I am also aware that there is an element that thinks this situation is bad as it just stirs up more unrest and radicalises more gullible persons.

If anyone is stirring things up its a certain group of companies who have interests in the area and wish to expedite the situation.

Surely the levels of fluoride in the water supply are so minimal that it wouldn't be damaging to humans unless it was a much higher concentration? I don't see the argument for not using toothpaste with fluoride in it, as when I brush my teeth I don't swallow the fluoride and in fact spit it out!

As someone with little or no knowledge of this, what are the 'safe' limits of fluoride as on toothpaste it is recorded as parts per million?

Fluoride worries me. My little cousin has been given a prescription toothpaste to try and strengthen his teeth and it's a high-fluoride toothpaste.

Thanks Jedi. Great find. Extra ammunition against indoctrinated, self-perceived authority figures.

I would also say that anyone with anything to do with sites like this either running or posting would automatically flag up. Really don't think there's much you can do about it, if they really want to monitor you they will.

They have software that searches for key words. If you say enough of them, I believe its 3, in the one conversation or txt message, then it trips the filters and you become a person of interest and they actively monitor you.
