06 Jul 2016 13:32:15 Never said you couldn't reference it. Just that Watergate is the only comparative in living memory. Everyone knows Watergate and anyone in their 30s can go ask people who lived through it.
06 Jul 2016 08:30:16 Well the largest of course was 1860-61 but none of us were around. I also don't think any of us were here for Teapot Dome. So Watergate is the only available context.
06 Jul 2016 08:06:38 I'll reverse that. If "big Liz" has so much power and is anti-EU then why did Britain join in the first place? What changed her mind to leave?
05 Jul 2016 17:03:48 I believe the current signatures on the petition was 236000 earlier. Around 1% of the Texas population. That figure will pick up. If it came to a vote and Texas did secede it would be the largest constitutional crisis since Watergate. If, and obviously its a huge if, Texas voted to leave what could the Federal government do. This isn't 1861 and there isn't a pretext to fight a civil war. The entire union would fracture.
05 Jul 2016 12:13:07 At the moment, Article 50 allows an EU Member State to formally withdraw from the EU by giving two years notice to the relevant authorities. However, as from March 31st 2017 Article 50 will be subject to the Qualified Majority Vote (QMV That means we will have to persuade a total of 14 EU Member States to support our decision to leave.
04 Jul 2016 14:46:15 I like Rees-Mogg. He's a straight talker. No waffle.
On my understanding parliament does have to vote on it. But more as a rubber stamp. You'd expect them to vote as their constituents have indicated via the referendum.
30 Jun 2016 20:59:52 Like this daft thing amongst the kids of wearing a safety pin. Yet some of the same people have hurling abuse at the elderly generations.
30 Jun 2016 17:14:11 I think Boris wasn't expecting leave to win. Or hoping for it to lose. Then it would have been 'well done Boris what cabinet job do you fancy'
May tried to sit on the fence and not really back either side. Didn't go down well in some areas who prefer their leaders to stand up rather than fence sit.
30 Jun 2016 16:52:46 If somebody didn't want this then wouldn't Farage have become an accident statistic years ago? And the UKIP donors quietly warned off.
30 Jun 2016 16:43:50 Fox is a no hoper. Same with Leadsom. Crabb is the dark horse but probably won't win. Straight fight between Gove and May. Depends who Murdoch backs.
