Just different competing ideologies.
We've already has capitalism versus fascism. Capitalism versus communism (or rather the polluted Stalinist version) and now its capitalism versus?
Capitalism seems to be the preferred method as it keeps winning and gives the illusion of freedom.

Maybe one of those periodic shifts in the weather patterns that they can use as "proof" of global warming so they can have another big summit and take more money off the people.

I must admit, I've lived in this country for a long time now, and I don't recall a December this mild. As I type the sun is out, the sky is blue and the birds are singing.
Of course this is different to other places affected by the rain. Maybe divert some of the country's resources instead of bungling foreign policy.

Well there's been a lot happening this week I wasn't sure if he meant the floods in northern England or the storms in southern America or something else.

Why would Saudi Arabia give Russia an apocalyptic super weapon.
Given Russia's main ally in the middle east is Iran. And Iran's main regional rival is Saudi Arabia. And both iran and Saudi Arabia have been fighting a proxy war for the last decade across Iraq and Syria. And Russia backs iran. Why would Saudi Arabia give it to Russia? Makes no sense what so ever.

Correct editor33 its long established practice of a ruling group to take over a rebel group from the inside. How better to undermine a group than from the inside. To try and control what they do, who they target, learn who other members are.
The czars secret police the okhrana used this on most revolutionary groups.

And that's the point of any asset, double or single agent. In order to be of any use they have to provide the goods. Top class Intel. In order to have access to that level of data they have to be highly placed in the target organisation. And only people who are well regarded will reach the positions where they will have that kind of access.
In the Sinn Fein example its no good turning Seamus O'Malley the driver/ bodyguard. But the guy near the top who knows all the secrets, who handles the money, sources the arms etc, well that's the man to target. And contrary to what the person in the interview said those methods still go on.

I think a lot of famous people have died on the 22nd of various months. Kennedy being the most famous.
I will repeat Kims Law 2:, there is no such thing as coincidence.

Remember the 3 B's.
So what if he was held in high regard by Sinn Fein, he could still be a double.
My own namesake was highly thought of in mi6. So were many others. Until the betrayal was revealed.

The politicians would be the public face, there to implement policy, easily expendable if necessary and kept in line by 2 of the 3 B's. Bribery and blackmail. There's enough dirt to keep them inside or destroy them if need be.
