The Reeves one I don't know but sounds very odd.

The Monroe file will never become public because the contents are too damaging.

I agree that is the long term intention. You can see it across the whole EU, Russia and the united states the slow erosion of civil rights. But i'd say there less than half way.

Remember he isn't that great. Look at the repression of the media, the murder of opponents and the infringement of human rights of minorities especially homosexuals. Not to mention alleged war crimes in Chechnya and Syria.

And its not like plenty of people didn't line their pockets from the privatisation of soviet industry under Yeltsin.

Depends ed. Putin is seen as a strong leader in some parts, and the fact a lot of the republican presidential contenders keep talking about him shows they take him seriously.

Bush wasn't the most intelligent and even he had sense. Obama is a coward do can't see him starting anything either.

What does worry me is 2017 and the new president. Especially as I think it will be a republican win in next years election. And some of the republican candidates seem to be hotheads.

The inhabitants of a police state may experience restrictions on their mobility, or on their freedom to express or communicate political or other views, which are subject to police monitoring or enforcement. Political control may be exerted by means of a secret police force which operates outside the boundaries normally imposed by a constitutional state.

I'm just pointing out that what you call a police state isn't as close to other polices that are police states. Try present day Bahrain and see how that compares.

The American air force has been bombing Syria all year mainly from Turkish air bases and their carriers in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf. The British have been bombing Iraq all year sanctioned by parliament all year and Syria unsanctioned by parliament the last couple of months. Unofficially both British and American special forces have been in both Iraq and Syria all year.

The Russian air force has been bombing for the last few weeks. Special forces have been in operation for the same time. There has been unconfirmed reports of coffins arriving at Sevastopol.

And again I say its nowhere near a police state.

Cctv cameras don't prove identity. Nor does mobile phone tracking. i'd cards do. When they come in, and Brussels would like to. Then see the abuse of power.

When you have police on all domestic trains and flights able to question you, search you and even throw you off with no reason given then that's a police state.

When you see or hear of people disappearing in the night for remarks they've made previously then that's a police state.
