Yes they've had years and billions to out into this. I don't know all the details of the Americans programs or the Chinese but the Russians were working on a lot of stuff at lefortovo and other places.
There is no such thing as coincidence.

Could say that about most places. But the opium remains important and there is the pipeline theory.

To be honest I've never seen the attraction of going to certain countries just to sit on a beach all day. I'd go crazy with boredom. I like to be active, even at my age, and prefer city breaks where I can go lose myself in the backstreets or museums and art galleries. I'm already considering a September trip to Dublin and maybe some city breaks in Cardiff or Liverpool. Open to suggestions.

I would believe ed001 is right.
Franky you may be interested to look into kgb swallows, I believe this is what you suspect the lady in question was. Probably not in the case but it does happen.

Yes ed also the source of most of the British/ Russian tensions was persia/ Afghanistan as both were trying to control the area. And obviously the soviets in 1979 too.

Its a strategically important point controlling access to the Mediterranean. Your empire was built on controlling geographically important points and Gibraltar was one of the first pieces outside of your islands.
Its more important a place than Crimea, that's just the Kremlin playing up to historical tradition and sympathies.
Its is a bit of an odd place to go. Obviously being a military base there's an obvious military presence but this distracts from a less obvious presence. Its a major intelligence centre as well.

Also given that we put the first satellite, man and woman into orbit, if landing on the moon had been feasible don't you think they'd have put a Russian on the moon first?

Exactly. But the media is a powerful opponent to fight. So instead you use rumour to get your version out, it will be picked up by those with a receptive mind and further broadcast. Seeding the ground for eventual proofs.

I've recently returned from a holiday in Bruges but whilst sitting in the hotel bar I overheard a conversation of some English tourists. Not the usual beery knuckle draggers'. They were talking about the twin towers and some "engineering" work that took place beforehand. Apparently this "engineering" work took longer than it should have, and when the towers "collapsed" there were suspicious looking spurts that looked like explosions. I found it quite interesting listening.

People have been casting doubt anyway. Ever since the first landings. How do you know that wasn't done deliberately? ;)

Everyone's always scared of the other side because its demonised. Russian state tv is full of anti western stuff yet you come over to the west and everyone is normal. As the editor said its all hypocrisy.

If the soviets had said anything in 69, or the 70s, would anyone in the west have believed it? Would any evidence have been dismissed as fake?
Back in the 90s Yeltsin was in hock to the Americans so nothing would have been said then.
Putin, for all his faults and there are many, isn't an American stooge. So if it suits him to say something he will.

No, good news never sells. Remember we are a pessimistic people though.
So ten years to go. Best get another couple of cases of vodka in.

Indeed, he would have been profiled and psychoanalysed by whichever agency and any indicators of a depressive personality would have been picked up. They've had years and billions in funding to develop psyops so they could push someone over the edge if they wanted to. As you say we'll never know.
