The Cold war propaganda is rearing its ugly head again, Russia and the US continue to flex their muscles with threats of "if you do this we will do that". Syria and Iran will probably be the tipping point, does anybody else find it strange that all the troubles in Libya, Syria and Egypt kicked off at the same time at a guess i would think the US stirred up the hornets nest, maybe even as one of the ED's suggested NATO sent in hired guns to make sure the 'job' was done right.
I also don't understand how the media manage to get people worked up about Iran 'possibly' having a nuclear warhead when Britain, America and Russia have enough of an arsenal to destroy the world 1000's of times over, surely that is the very definition of hypocritical. Also if Iran were to attack Israel not with not with missiles but with troops on the ground (which is impossible as they would have to go through Iraq to get their) would it not be just? Israel have not become the power they have by pure luck, on the surface it appears they pander to Americas ego needing protection, but if you dig a little deeper you see that door swings both ways.
I know this is a bit of a rant so i will try and wrap it up. my history is not great but during the 90's didn't the US claim to be going into Iraq (the first time) because Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and also order the extermination of the Kurdish people, now fast forward 20 years Turkey are in the EU (well more or less in) and Turkish and US forces are fighting against the terrorist cell called the PKK. What a difference 20 years makes once a people in need of protection and now terrorists that need to be dealt with. Although during the 80's while Russia was in Afghanistan America backed the Afghans will all the money and weapons they could spare and now look.
The less people watch the news or read the papers the better, the media is a very powerful brain washing machine. I would imagine less than 10% of it is eventrue, this scene from Good Morning Vietnam probably isn't too far from the truth.

I wouldn't say can't watch the news or read the paper, but just take it with a pinch of salt. The only news i watch is 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' purely because he points out the madness of Fox News and their Republican masters, and that's always good for a laugh.
If you look on the internet you come across some genuinely interesting and eye opening stuff. But even then you have to keep your own mind and take from it what you like.
