There's so much more I wish I could say. But on one side I'm bound by the OSA and I don't fancy Holloway prison at my age. And on the other, well I like my tea without anything radioactive added.

Stalin wanted to form an nkvd taskforce charged with hunting him down. But in the immediate post war period there was too much to do in the western soviet union in the areas that had been occupied and the newly acquired territories especially Poland and east Germany. By the time that was accomplished the cold war was underway. The atomic project was top priority. There was the berlin crisis. Other things. Lack of south American resources. By 1950 with Korea and stalins health issues it was dropped.

Yes you have handlers you handle assets. Usually people attached to an embassy or consulate and therefore protected by diplomatic immunity. If caught all that happens is you get expelled. And end up in Alaska or Siberia or whatever the British equivalent is.
That's white ops. Handlers need to be intelligent, good people skills and able to blend in well especially in different social circles.
Assets are usually local people you have their own motivations. There are 3 ways to recruit an asset. The 3b's. Bribery, blackmail or bullshit. You'd be amazed the people prepared to sell out their country for money. Blackmail, well the kgb employed special agents known as swallows or ravens depending on their sex whose job was to seduce targets and open them up to blackmail. And then there was good old fashioned bullshit. Sometimes although rarely there were those doing it for another motive. For a cause. Or revenge.
When your in country but the embassy is unaware then that's a black op and you have no fall back cover of diplomatic immunity. Then when caught your disavowed and wait to be exchanged.

Well depends on the role. A lot of intelligence work is analysis. Forget any images of James bond. Anyone who is a specialist could be recruited depending on what's required. Traditionally linguists are always popular. Russian speakers, arab speakers, etc. Or technical specialists like in 1990 with the gulf.
University graduates tend to be favoured because the intellectual disciplines used are essential for analysis.
Sometimes you do have on-site specialists. If for example you want to send someone to look at a bunch of mercenaries and assess the situation then current or ex military personnel would be a starting point.

But has that ever been publicly admitted?
Would explain why they seem less bothered about what he gets upto. But had to keep him in the official line as the truth is too damaging. Of course now robot William has been 'producing' the goods he's moving down the order.

Correct me if I'm wrong but any children she had outside of her marriage wouldn't have been in line?
I think it was more what she knew, who she seeing, and the threat of her talking.

An old soviet joke showed the different views of communism by leader
Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev and Brezhnev are all travelling together in a railway carriage.
Unexpectedly, the train stops. Lenin suggests: "Perhaps we should call a subbotnik, so that workers and peasants fix the problem. "
Stalin puts his head out of the window and shouts, "If the train does not start moving, the driver will be executed! "
But the train doesn't start moving.
Khrushchev then shouts, "Let's take the rails behind the train and use them to construct the tracks in the front. "
But it still doesn't move. Brezhnev then says, "Comrades, comrades, let's draw the curtains, turn on the gramophone and pretend we're moving! "
It was later expanded to include Gorbachev but it lost the punch line.
You should go to Russia. Late spring to early autumn is the best times.

Not at all. I want everyone to be Russian lovers being Russian myself. I'm just pointing out that the current regime is as guilty of many of things it accuses others of being guilty of. And worse things too.
Like I said RT does broadcast a lot of things you won't see on western outlets. I'm just pointing though that they are also a regime mouthpiece just as much as Sky or Fox or others.
I just don't agree with a lot of what my government does. Including the suppression of human rights and the illegal war in Ukraine. And I will say that in every place I can as long ad I can.
My country suffered worse than any other in the 20th century. My country has a rich cultural heritage. My country could be a tremendous force for good in the right hands. Alas its not in the right hands.
As much as you disliked thatcher and Blair, rightly too, I don't like certain of Russia's leaders.
Nothing to do with socialism franky. i'd love to see a truly socialist world. But a lot needs to happen first. A good start would be getting rid of a lot of the Stalinist rubbish that too many in the west seem to equate with proper socialism.

Russia todays state funded so puts out what the Kremlin wants it to put out.
All media puts out whatever the paymasters want. RT isn't much better than Fox in that regard. Its just another point of view. Not saying that's its unreliable. Indeed they do report many interesting things you won't see on British ir American media. But its all about highlighting how bad the west is and papering over the faults of the Kremlin. Same way Fox looks for scapegoats to exonerate the white house.
Martin went on principle as she knew it was bullshit and couldn't take anymore.

Corbyn voted against his leaders 500 times from the back benches and leaked stories to the left wing press. He can't complain when others do the same.

Plenty of male labour mps reported no harassment only female labour mps.
Harassment and attempted intimidation of an elected official is not what you would expert in Britain.
I didn't say he should deselect mps. I said its an option. But pushing the party further to the left would be a mistake.

Id go on speaking to a member of creasys team who said some of the stuff that was going on was vile.
If corbyb has an issue with any of his mps then he can deselect them and put up his own people as candidates.
As he himself has said labour is a broad church. But many on the left of the party do not share that view and I think some of the stuff thrown at the Blairites just for being blairites is embarrassing. And the public perception is far worse. And public perception is what matters. Will most of the British people vote for corbyn?
In my experience, and that includes 35 years professional experience of British political analysis, I do not think so.
There are many reasons people come to Britain. Not just benefits or the free health service. But because there is a standard of living that is very good. Around the world the British people ate regarded as fair minded and liberal. But liberal doesn't equate to hard left. Given a choice between a hard left labour party or a tory party masquerading as a centre right party most British people will vote for the tories. We saw this in the 80s. We saw this only 7 months when milliband as a centre left leader lost.
The British people have never had an appetite for the hard left or the hard right.
