Anybody hear/feel the sonic boom in England?

Made me think of black technology, it literally made the house shake...

If you could amplify that by 1 million for example

Just a thought

merka

It was two jets braking the sound barrier...

I never felt or herd anything but my girlfriend who works couple mile away came home in a panic. I checked bbc news and the story seemed pretty silly. Probably a cover up

Heard and felt it. BBC say it was one of two RAF Typhoons responding to an emergancy. However, i did not hear the sound of the jet engine from either aircraft.

If both jets broke the sound barrier and with the weather conditions as they are across most of the uk, up to four booms can be heard (two from each). I only heard one.

I know what supposedly made the sonic boom, my point was that if you were to amplify the boom, it could be a dangerous weapon, as what I heard/felt today shook my house... and i don't live in a caravan. Bricks and mortar.

Merka, sonic technology already exists and outside what is audible to humans. A boom is not essential to create massive damage with a sonic weapon, if anything it would only add an effect to stimulate the feeling of terror maybe.

Initial reports of tonights boom say two aircraft were scrambled in response to a helicopter transmitting a destress signal (which was quickly recognised and the helicopter pilot corrected the situation).

What sort of helicopter can invoke a response that results in an aircraft booming over populated areas below a permissable altitude, an absolute no no except in extreme circumstances?

It was a helicopter transmitting the hijack frequency by mistake , hence 2 jets were scrambled. (according to the BBC)

I have no idea what it was but the official excuse sounded like a 5 year old made it up

I lived in Israel in 1990 and the kibbutz was 5 miles from an airbase the fighters would regularly break the barrier over my house and sounded like a bomb going off everytime, amplified it would be much more and create greater resonance (everything shook) so stands to reason the more amplification the more resonance the more damage, freaked me right out i must say, first time poster btw {Ed001's Note - I have heard sonic booms many times, never sounded like a bomb where I was. They always sounded like the word suggests, never a thought it could be anything else. Maybe people are more paranoid in this day and age though, because we would never have considered a bomb back then, even though the IRA were on the news every night.}
