Has anyone noticed the rise in Hollywood films of Chinese and north Korean villains?

James Bond usually had a Russian baddie. In the late 90s Hollywood had a taste for English bad guys before 9/11 switched baddie-focus to the middle east. Who do you think the bas guys are in Chinese films?

I know, I enjoy the bond films, especially Octopussy (worked in East Germany), View To A Kill (worked out that way), and the Living Daylights (spent time in Bratislava) we used to enjoy watching smuggled in copies. I even copied the hairstyle of the girl from the Living Daylights.
I think just use British actors for villains as you make better actors and the American mentality is to always be the hero.
As for the current trends its just interesting to see which way they are leaning, I expect it to be back to Russian villains soon.

Franky, are you saying every single film that contains a terrorism theme or a action thriller which shows Chinese, Korean or Russian is funded by the US government?

It wouldn't have to be direct funding. It could be in the form of tax breaks. Many films make use of US military assets, films like Top Gun or the transformers franchise, have made use of military equipment and personal. Obviously this wouldn't come cheap but costs could be waived. Both films have been used as recruitment propaganda and have shown spikes in enlistment after going on release. Then there are various other costs that could be cut by government involvement, such as location costs which could be minimised by using government owned land or buildings.
