what's your guys opinions in Islam - a religion of violence or peace? I'm just asking because of the current situation with ISIS, Boko Haram etc. Also, the Quran contains A LOT of violent language and messages - but i'm not sure.
JG
{Ed033's Note - If ISIS, Boko Haram etc. are run by the CIA or Mossad, then Islam doesn't come into it.
I perceive religion in three distinct types.
The first is the one that imprints fanaticism and is that which Ed033 indicated. The type that CIA, MI6 and Mossad are especially adept at using for recruitment and psy-ops.
The second is the centrally organized version or the religion of the priesthood. An establishment tool for manipulating and suppressing the masses by leaching off their meager earnings, exploiting their guilt, for being imperfect and striving to be perfect, and suppressing free thought.
The third is the religion of those who follow their individual path, working towards understanding, serving and being in harmony with the source of the self.

Religion of violence. Go read the hadith.
Its all there in scripture, everything from torture, murder and repression of the infidel to the justification of the rape games plaguing many towns.
It may be taken advantage of by mossad, cia etc but I think that's just a cop out rather than facing the truth that its a thoroughly evil philosophy.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is just a lie. It is not a religion of violence at all, there are individual preachers who talk of using it, but that is not the basis of the religion. You are showing ignorance by claiming so. The original expression of Islam forbade violence. Jihad means holy work, nothing to do with war, as war was forbidden initially.}

All religions are religions of violence to a certain extent as they are simple books made up of many different pieces of text from different time periods, some of this text preaches hate towards others in all religions, its which bit you choose to foolow
{Ed001's Note - rubbish. It is later corruptions that preach violence. Buddha never preached any violence, only an idiot would claim Buddhism is a religion of violence.}

No one is talking about Buddhism. Islam was spread through violence. Convert or die. Go read how it was spread to central Asia and India. Muhammed was a deeply unpleasant individual. There's a Turkish poet called erdan who compares Islam to nazism.

{Ed001's Note - you said all religions but now you want to just pick and choose? Islam was not initially spread through violence. Again your ignorance is showing. Muhammed is another of those who were corrupted by power. He suddenly had power and followers and turned to violent methods to gain more.}

So there aren't religious texts that preach hatred and violence?? none in the old testament? there books written by man and we are violent so they have this element in them
{Ed001's Note - are you not able to read? Those are not original texts, they are later corruptions. That is when man corrupted the messages with violence. Is it really so difficult to understand? Are you so brainwashed by the lies in the media that you are unable to comprehend the truth? It is not religion that is the problem, it is man, and bigots like you make the situation worse.}

That was other person say all religions. Not all religions are violent.
How many muslim terror groups? How many Hindu? Sikh? Catholic?
Too easy to blame American. Only taking advantage of what exists. But blaming them is avoiding issue.
Is religion of suppression. Look at women's rights. Or non existence of. Look at rape gangs in India and Britain. Violence against women. Religiously excused violence. All in hadith and surah.

{Ed001's Note - Catholicism also emphasises a lack of rights for women, but violent attacks are not associated with the religion as such are they? Sometimes I fear for people, they look to blame anything other than the actual perpetrators. You are as bad as those fools who blame rap or rock music when a killing spree happens.}

Catholics don't publicly flog or behead people, it evolved.
Who is to blame then, educate me.

{Ed001's Note - don't they? Or do they just not do that because the law of the land forbids them to do so? Perhaps you might want to check which it is before asking nonsense questions. The Vatican only brought in laws protecting children from paedophiles in 2000 because of pressure from the UN. I don't think Catholicism can be held up as a shining light, it has spent most of its history protecting paedophiles from justice. Hardly a beacon of hope. As for 'it evolved', no the countries it was in evolved and forced it to follow suit or be pushed out. As for 'educate you', why don't you try educating yourself, instead of just reading tabloids and regurgitating their lies on here. Are people so thick they are incapable of educating themselves these days? You all want it spoon fed to you, go and broaden your own mind and stop wasting my time with idiotic assertions and we will all be better off.}

France and Britain used to behead people up until the 1900's.
Also, ed mentioned that if ISIS is run by the CIA or Mossas that religion doesn't come into it, I have to disagree to an extent.
The people that follow their orders won't know who they're being controlled by, so in their minds they're doing it for religious reasons.

Britain was publicly hanging teenagers who dared proclaim sovereign thought, self and country until the 1950s in at least one of its many colonies. This is what some perceive as civilization and are foolish enough to be proud of.
The establishment has found a way to manipulate people through the use fanaticism. Religion is a tool designed to assist with the ascension of ones spirit. The purest is the one targeted first.
When a gullible person who's never exercised their gift of free will, free thought and freedom of expression, who's held it all bottled up for years and is now being manipulated by puppeteers who designed programs such as MK Ultra or carried out experiments at Travistock who is to blame?
Blame the root so that all share equally the blame but by removing it end up killing the whole tree?
Blame the establishment who is always faceless and thus can never be stopped or seized?
Blame man for his own shortcomings so that he may overcome them and as he rises above them he'll never fall in the same pit again.
