Who outside Russia does this serve best?

Nobody. Why would it serve anyone outside Russia?

The only person to gain by this is Putin.

How many more political opponents, dissidents, and truth speakers have to die before people accept Putins culpability and realise what a monster he is.

I weep for my homeland. I weep for my people.

Because illegally invading two countries in less than a decade didn't give enough cause already?

From the accounts I've heard he was planning on exposing the illegal troop deployments in Ukraine.

No-one in Russia is allowed to question the regime. You either end up in prison like Pussy Riot or dead like Litvinenko or others. Look up how many journalists have been murdered in Russia since 2000.

All tv stations in Russia are state funded. This means the Kremlin controls all news. Its little more than propaganda telling a country of over a 100 million people what one man wants them to be told. And that one man is a Stalinist. And stalin was a pig. A man far worse than hitler. But a hero to Putin. If every channel you see repeats the same lies soon you believe those lies.

So Russia have a Fox news channel too. And guess what, they are both doing their jobs very well.

No, every Russian channel is worse than fox news. And all state funded.

I don't see fox news telling everyone that the countries economic problems are caused by foreigners and gay people.

Recently or historically? I don't think there's much difference between the two. I may sit down and count the score once I have finished what I am doing.

However I'm not sure why you're bringing the Americans into a discussion about Russian politics unless your a Putin apologist.

During the cold war both sides were as bad as each other. Since the 90s the Americans have been worse in many respects, certainly in terms of foreign policy. But Russia under Putin is the worse domestically.

In total 111 journalists have been killed in Russia in putins terms as president up 2014. And another 22 during medvedevs term whilst Putin was prime minister. So 133 since 2000. Some are attributable to the mafia or Chechnya.

In comparison the internet doesn't have much info on American journalists apart from those attributed to al Qaeda or Isis. In the period 2000 to date there have been 4 American journalists killed including one during 911. And the last was 8 years ago.

In some conspiracy posts on here we argue that the world's political leaders are mere puppets for unseen powers. How is it different now that we perceive Putin to be the sole focus and individually responsible for all evils in Russia?

Thanks, Nick H

Most people on here tend to ignore the problem or counter with the argument well look at America.

I think the problem with that is that in America its more obvious that the likes of bush or Obama are clearly acting on the orders of others, especially the big corporate front organisations like oil companies or banks.

Russia is a different situation. The big front organisations only had the opportunity to get into Russia after 1991 and the collapse of the party. Yeltsin being a drunken oaf was perfect for them to get a foothold.

However Putin, for all his issues, is his own man. he's been running Russia for a decade and a half, long enough time to undo what happened in the 90s which he has been doing in other areas so why not with regards to the mega corps that dictate policy in the west.

If there is someone above Putin it is not clear who it is.
