Does God exist? i think people take it to seriously in some religions i.e not drinking smoking scared of what 'God' will do when they die the whole Heaven and Hell thing,EDS are you belivers? {Ed001's Note - personally I am an atheist.}
Big bang theory then ED001? {Ed001's Note - what about it?}

How do you think the world started then : ) {Ed001's Note - oh right, no idea mate, I have not seen anything that has convinced me one way or the other with regards to that.}

If i may give my input into the creation of the universe? I personally believe in the 'M theory' as being the prime candidate. it answers all the questions about a time before time, etc.
As for is there a god? I really don't have a clue. mainstream religion i believe is rubbish, however the stories about the monks who live in mountains and have managed to put themselves into a state where they can transport outside their bodies seems a little odd, especially when to my knowledge nobody has proven that they can't do this.

I drift somewhere between agnostic and athiest
but i really hope that there is some sort of karma / reincarnation thing going on, this way
when i come back as a fooked -up battery hen
i'll be squashed within eye pecking distance
of Thatcher ,Kissinger, Rothchild and the rest of the self-proclaimed ˜responsible people'.
Maybe i'm eggnostic.

The Moon, that is an interesting point. I am curious how these monks get into their states. Sometimes it is through drugs, sometimes through meditation, sometimes both. One thing I will say is that when taking Ketamin you can have an outer body experience where you feel like your inner being if you like has just floated off and you go with it - your thought processes are 100% fine though. Still thinking clearly, assessing what you 'see', but physically the body doesn't work too well. So I do believe that there is easily a way these monks say they experience this, the human brain is deffo capable of entering that state, be it through drugs, meditation, training, or things like near-death experiences.
I also am atheist though. I think he word Blasphemy' is utterly vindictive - it is laced with guilt more than any other word in the world IMO. What you do as a living biological being has absolutely no impact on what your soul does. I believe this to the point where it pisses me off that others don't, even though I have to respect their beliefs.
I believe that there are a few equally sensible theories for creation, but I 100% believe that any God that does exist is a biological entity of some form or other and therefore not a god in the sense that is considered these days.

I think it all comes down to what was "before".
If it was all a speck of matter the size of a piece of dust and it exploded then where did the speck come from? What was there before? What caused it to explode?
If Genesis is correct, then where did God come from? Again what was there before? How did God come into being?

As for Monks i think it's a combination of training, meditation and some assistance from some herbal, medicinal hallucinogenics to help them to take that further step from meditation.

Mort I reckon Genesis is based on the origins of our planet and conveniently bypasses the notion of something even coming before us, or that we are part of something greater.

Maybe when it was written they only had certain knowledge and had to find a way of getting it down safely so that future generations could understand it properly? In terms that they could understand without getting too technical.
Unfortunately as we are a species of nervous twitchy types scared of our own shadows we instead had to go and organise a religion whereby the dumb schmucks go and take everything communicated as literal.... rather than as technical allegories. Throw in all the mistranslations and the fact that its human nature to be sceptical.....

Well they say the bible is basically the modern version of history of the world, from creation to present day. I thought it was well believed that the bible was written by very clever people who interpreted lots of information passed through different ages and civilisations and put it down metaphorically, citing 1 GOD as the creator, and delivering the rest through metaphorical biblical stories. E.g. Noah's ark = flooding of atlantis. 'And it rained down fire from the heavens, and they were turned to dust' - Sumerian nuclear bombing or whatever it was...incidentally, the word for dust in that region also means vapour...
I am loving the concept of God not being a creator in any magical sense but in an alien sense, that is so much more exciting. I heard somewhere recently that there are those who believe that the line 'Man was created in God's image' or whatever it is is not referring to a literal God-
They believe that the genetic variation between the different key races on earth are so large that it is impossible for us to have evolved that way. In other words, they believe we were created. Causasians, Africans, Orientals, Indians, - a product of genetic meddling done by 'god' - possibly aliens or prehistoric technologically superior beings. I love that idea. Not saying I believe it but it is such a great theory, I would love to learn more about this genetic thing.
