I don't know about aliens or ghost but what about the ultimate truth -DEATH.
Apart from its inevitability, what do we know about it?
what happens when we die? do we just die and nothing except void will take over or is it just a long sleep, and we will keep dreaming till we might wake up again ?
The experience of death can't be shared so will we ever know what happens after?
so after death do we cease to exist or apart from our body including brain which gets destroyed, our soul/spirit lives. If so what is spirit/soul? what happens to it after death, how can we know about it? May be i'm just rambling but it's intriguing.
What hurts inside us when we are in despair or when our loved ones pass away? where do the feelings like pride, love, hate generate? is it just brain and thus with its destruction nothing of us or our memory, our awareness of oneself ,experiences is destroyed with our death? or ...

Deep Thought calculated the answer as 42 :)

Wow, a lot of thoughts/questions there and topics i cannot form a solid opinion on....Due to the amount of unknowns, how can you observe the unknown?...Arrgghhh, screwing my head already!

Intrigued what the Eds et al have to say.

Paragon {Ed001's Note - the only thing you can do is read up on the experiences of those who have died and been resuscitated. The recollections I have read did seem very similar, but I wonder how much of that is real memories and how much is the power of suggestion. After all we always see the light etc on TV, maybe they are recounting what they believe happens because they don't actually remember anything.}

In Torchwood series 1 it was just a void, nothing but i put that more down to the writers being atheists.

The thing i find interesting is the people young and old that die and are brought back to life in hosiptal and are able to even tell about what their friends, family were saying to each other when they left their bobies and where able to hear in the waiting rooms etc, so there is life after death............lfc

Probably well out my depth here, but in a resuscitation situation the brain is not yet dead even if the heart has stopped, so some if not all of the sensory organs are still working, albeit heavilly compromised.

This would explain why people can recall events whilst they were technically dead, at least with things that are within hearing/seeing/touching/smelling/taste distance ...this obviously doesn't cover remote hearing or viewing, ie things outside the above, but its a start??

I do believe in life after death but the rececutation logic doesnt compute with me because what if thats just simply the effect of rapic chemical secretions our brain has developed over centuries to ease the pain of deat. No matter how instant ones death occurs theres always a moment of realization first and why wouldnt we have devoloped a mechanism for coping.
