I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next man but lets get a few things straight
1) there are no such things as ghosts
2) alien beings have never visited the earth
3) mediums and psychics are fraudsters
4) there is no god

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but you cannot say that any of those things are facts. What happened to keeping an open mind?}

1.agree
2.disagree
3.most are but some are very good

1. Chris i am not a psychic or a medium but i have seen quite a few ghosts and had a lamp threw at me when im the only one in the house so your a bit dumb 2. Aliens have never visited the earth you have obviously never met my step mother 3. read 1. and 4. and as for there being no god no one will ever know

MJ {Ed033's Note - I'll just add in a few things for people to look in to. In no particular order -
• Who do people think they're communicating with when they use a Ouija board?
• Check out Electronic Voice Phenomena
• Read about the Star Child Skull and the Cone Head Skulls
• Read about Dr. Gary Schwartz's research on life after death using mediums/psychics to communicate with the so called 'dead'

I've seen Tamworth at kicking out time on a Friday and Saturday night. An alien invasion would have no chance.

Isn't that EVP thing the white noise stuff? {Ed033's Note - Some EVP sounds like words spoken in English that make up a cohesive sentence. On a completely different note 'Reverse Speech' is also an interesting subject to look into}
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
1. I'd say no, but I've seen too many things that I can't explain.
2. Impossible for their not to be aliens, as far as them visiting the earth then the jury's still out.
3. Agree.
4. We will never know, but I hate people who use his name for their own gain, i.e. priests, Bishops who live in freeking big houses.

1) EVP = simple scientific explanation
2) star child skull and conehead skulls = simple scientific explanations
3) Dr Schwartz' research = simple explanation
Now it's time to get a grip children

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I think the only one who needs to get a grip is you. You have a closed mind, there is no such thing as a simple scientific explanation, science changes constantly and what is accepted as fact one day is disproven the next. Only a fool would rule anything out on the basis of science.}

Ed001 I am a huge fan of your football opinions however when you say "there is no such thing as a simple scientific explanation" you are making yourself look very foolish.
I have no hesitation in saying that it's impossible for there not to be other life out there but why do some people have this ridiculous desire to believe that it has or is visiting us? Just tell me if aliens are visiting us, if they are so technologically advanced that they have found a way, what exactly is their reason for being so coy?
I'll say it again, get a grip

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I never said they did, I said that you have to keep an open mind because you only have your opinion to decide whether they have or not. As for looking foolish, I think you will find that I am not looking foolish, you are the only one looking foolish by refusing to even listen to anyone else's point of view. As I pointed out, what is science fact one day is often proven to be false the next, so you can't sit there and claim it has a simple scientific explanation. ALL science is theoretical, none of it can be truly proven, only proven to the point where it is accepted that it is probably fact. If you fail to understand that, then I am afraid you are the one who is going to look foolish. After all scientific fact was telling us that margarine was good for us, now scientific fact tells us that it is actually harmful. Do you really want to rely on explanations that mostly depend on who is funding the research? Everything should be taken as just one piece of the puzzle and nothing should be taken on face value.}

Yeah ok

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - wow that all you got? No way of pointing out where I was incorrect, just dismissing it out of hand? Or perhaps that was acknowledgement that just maybe I could have a point? Why don't you start again with those things stated as beliefs and not facts. Because nothing you said was a fact, merely your belief. Surely you are wasting your time coming on here if you are not going to open your mind and give people the chance to convince you otherwise? Personally I am unconvinced that aliens are around us now, I fully understand why you are skeptical about that, I am too. But I am happy to examine anything people can provide to back up their beliefs one way or the other. I would not just dismiss it out of hand like you are.}

I've got nothing against being open minded Ed and believe me there are plenty of things (especially around 9/11) that haven't been fully explained however some things have a perfectly reasonable scientific explanation. The trouble with most conspiracy theorists is they won't believe anything. Your argument is that I should open my mind to everything, ok but where do we stop then? Or do we question everything all the time? We should concentrate on getting the answers to the important questions not wasting our time and losing our credibility on ghosts and bloody aliens!
My "yeah ok" response was because it's obvious that you want to believe so will never be swayed by any argument I can give. You will argue that I am just the same but it's not quite the same for me because I am starting my argument from a pretty strong position, namely, common sense and the support of scientific evidence.
And by the way your margarine analogy was poor

Chris on Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I want to believe? Whatever gave you that impression? I would much prefer to be able to believe what I am told on the TV and that the government actually acts on behalf of the people like it should. I would prefer there to be no ghosts etc, I am not convinced there are ghosts, but there is no scientific proof that they don't exist. No more than there is proof that bumblebees can't fly. How was my margarine analogy poor? I was pointing out that theories and beliefs change all the time, usually based on what the people paying for a study want the study to prove. There were a number of independent studies done in South Africa that showed endurance athletes performed better if given a high-fat diet. Yet the scientific community has decided that it is fact that fat needs to be reduced for athletes, all based on studies paid for by companies with a vested interest in finding that lower fat products are needed. All the studies on ghosts etc are done by people with a vested, personal interest in either disproving or proving they exist. As such any and all conclusions have to be treated as suspect. That was my point. I am just highly sceptical about everything, quite the opposite from those who want to believe.}

Well I AM convinced there are ghosts and I do not care what others think about that. I do not believe for 1 second that those ridiculous haunted house TV progs depict ghosts, but i do believe in ghosts. As humans we live within 3 dimensions, and we have 5 senses that can be proven with simple physics - taste, sight, sound, touch, smell. Fact. I believe there is a 6th sense. And I am open to there being more. I am also open to the concept of peopel's senses reaching different echelons of functionality - i.e. stronger sense of taste, some people hear better than others, whatever. With training, and presumably gene-pool work over hundreds of generations, you can breed improvement into a trait. The concept of dimensions is interesting to me, and I feel that our 5 physical senses usually only operate within a very limited 'bandwidth' and within our dimension. I believe that sometimes people's senses are at a higher state than others, which is why some people see ghosts and other can't. I believe that there are more senses than the ones we exhibit e.g. telepathy. I also believe there are huge areas of the brain that apparently 'don't do much' or whatever - those areas simply wait to be exploited by senses we have not developed, IMO. Sounds whack but we do not know everything bout our own brain. So to simply write off the concept of ghosts, or that some people may be able to see whatever 'dimension' or whatever you want to call it, or that some people's senses cannot reach that level of function, is perhaps jaded.

Some people are capable of believing things only when they see them, which is fine. Others will do whatever they can to explain that which they do not believe as being something else - e.g. hallucinations, not ghosts. It is interesting, but it surprisingly ties in with our ID and EGO quite a lot. Moments like this, therefore, we can do no more than to agree to disagree with each other - but don't be so closed minded that you feel you can call people childish for what they feel. I don't believe in God, but I don't go around saying to those who do that they need to get a grip, they're childish, there's no proff, etc etc. I respect their shiz and that's that. {Ed001's Note - actually we have more than 5 senses, that is a misconception, if you look it up there are many more that we use.}

Sorry Ed, I meant 5 physical ones that are supported an irrefutable - sight, sound, taste, smell, touch. It was more to just make my point rather than to go into an in depth discussion in the literal number of senses we possess, but in a way your point supports mine so that's great. I am reading an interesting article as you got me thinking, it says itch is a sense - I disagree. A physical and chemical process occurring on the skin which triggers electrical impulses in the same nuerosensors as touch does - some people feel smell and taste are the same sense but 'delivered' differently, on this occasion I'd have to say itch is in the same overall area as touch. However, I am going to read up on this as this website I found says that it surprisingly IS different sensory set from touch. It is the same sense that detects being tickled by a feather IMO so will read into it. Simultaneously, pressure. Pressure in the context of something leaning on you is again just touch. Pressure in the sense of air pressure - that creates a measurable force on your eardrum - touch. Just because it is air does not mean it isn't touch. Again, the same senses that feel a breeze.

I agee there are more clear vut ones to add to the list - thermoception (being able to tell temperature changes), proprioception - being able to tell where your body parts are. You could argue this is linked with touch - muscle movements send impulses down the same sensory cells due to pressure changes and this tells us where the limb is. When you fall asleep on your arm, there is no blood flow, the electrochemical processes therefore do not occur, and they cannot be 'felt'. SO again, debatable.
Pain is an obvious one. Some come under the umbrella of touch but can be separated into further ones like the ones I have just mentioned, but pain is deffo a separate one.
Balance
Hunger
Thirst.

etc etc.

Completely gone off the point haha sorry, but yeah my point was we have many senses and there could be more that not everyone uses. {Ed001's Note - it is an interesting subject, I think, but I bet there are a lot of people that would disagree with me on that! But back to the original question, we only have to look at how much of the brain is left unused to realise that we are missing something.}

Exactly my point Ed, all this grey matter must have a use, some might say. Others may say who cares. I for one do not believe that the rain operates at exactly the same level for every single person. When one's operates less, we call it things like, as a loose example, learning difficulties. What if someone's operates at a higher level? And detects senses that most cannot? What if eye sight is based as much upon physical rays of light as it is upon being able to detect them, and more? hence wh I believe some people can see ghosts and others can't/ We've all seen those cheesy horror films where someone can see or hear voices and nobody else can, they get pegged as a nutter, everyone dies, turns out they were right in the first place, bla bla bla... no smoke without fire .
