surprise surprise Chris Huhne the mp who asked he's ex wife to take the wrap over speeding then got 8 months has only spent a week then got moved to a easy open prison, ffs a week, it makes me mad, no doubt he will have a cushy job and give it 4 weeks he will be on tagg.

He is of no danger to the public. He is being deprived of liberty and his family, keeping him in a tough prison with murderers and sex offenders would only be about revenge.

Deffo a wind up comment from the unnamed poster for one he would not be mixing with murders and nonces he would be in a different wing plus people who don't pay there taxes do not have that luxury to get shifted to a open prison, to me he is lower than low, everyone makes mistakes but that coward could not man up and was willing to let's he's ex take the wrap, I know fellers who have done time and they have more honor than that scroat.

A wind up because I don't agree with you? Personally I have no time for the man who has proven to be a liar and a coward but my point was he is not a danger to the public. I really fail to see why you are so angry about him being moved prisons or released early from an already overcrowded, expensive and inadequate system.

As a taxpayer I say sue him and his wife for the entire cost of the investigation and trial and let them live with the shame.

I said when he got sentenced this would happen. I said out by the time the football season ends and on to a lucrative book deal, appearing on tv chat shows and maybe a newspaper column. Of course he's deprived of his liberty, he broke the law. Someone like me or franky would have served the full eight months and none of it in an open prison.

Jeffrey archer springs to mind the establishment will always look after their own one rule for the rich and famous one for the rest of us

To the unnamed poster again its not because you do not agree with me but like a few of us have said what about the rest of the people who have committed some type of fraud and are no danger to the public?i know for a fact that this is pretty rare for someone who has not even spent one month inside, who ever made this proposal for him to be moved has greased someones pockets.

How do u know he won't be in with murderer's, u been in wandsworth?

No I have not, you get categorised so murders and violent people won't be on the same wing as a feller who who is dodging paying he's income tax.

There are different types of fraud. Getting your wife to take points is still a million miles away from conning the elderly out of their life savings.

I'm not advocating jailing anyone who isn't a danger to the public whether they be in a position of importance or not. Franky you seem to be full of hate towards this person because you deem him to be part of the 'establishment', do 2 wrongs make a right? Is this a class issue for you?

I'll reiterate my original point; if someone is no danger to society
why do we feel it necessary to burden the tax payer funded prison system in lieu of any other punishment?

Like or not he is or was part of the establishment and was a position of trust and he abused it hence my stand on this topic, mate your not going to turn this in to a class argument because if you read my posts I have not mentioned class once, finally I will try and make this crystal clear to you, if EVERYONE WHO IS NOT A RISK TO THE PUBLIC GETS MOVED TO A OPEN PRISON AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS OF he's SENTENCE FINE, AGREE WITH YOU, BUT THIS IS NOT THE NORM.

Wow SHOUTING down the keyboard, really? I've noticed that's a few occasions now where you don't take kindly to anyone disagreeing.

I was under the impression this page was to discuss the topics raised rather than be shot down when it doesn't match your beliefs. Seems you want to dominate this page without any dissension. Rather totalitarian!

{Ed033's Note - You seem to be using the delphi technique. This is the technique some social workers are taught to goad a response from a parent that can be deemed "violent", even if it is just a small increase in the volume of the parent's voice. This alleged "violent" reaction to the social worker is then deemed enough to allow the child(ren) to be removed.

Was not shouting feller I was trying to make my point stand out without getting drawn in to a argument about class or anything else, if you think a former politician should be treated differently to the majority of people who have done the same thing then more power to you, since you have not put your name at any time to your posts I will call you flamethread if you don't mind?.

Franky I agree with a lot of what you post here but I have to agree with the other guy, I have some understanding of the justice system and this is the norm, it stinks however if it had been me or you we would have ended up in the same place.

Jonty no problem disagreeing mate, you might know the justice system a hell of a lot better than me but I am speaking from experience with family and friends.

Spot on the whole way through Franky. If someone that didn't have this blokes profile they wouldn't get special treatment. But at the same time, someone with this blokes profile and previous position is often seen as an easy target inside. There is a good chance he was moved for his own safety rather then because of a pay off.

If his safety was an issue then he could have been segregated. I have been in prison for less serious offences than this guy and I was banged up 23 hours a day. No open jail for me and I do not have a history of violence etc.

Double standards for rich and poor.

Agreed melbourne they have prob moved him more because of the threat of violence so in turn he would get bribed in to paying for protection of some sort which does happen to high profile people, it cuts no ice with me a lad that I knew who was doing time and tried to get to a open prison because certain people had a beef with him, after two months of trying he hung himself in he's cell.

I realise it is still very much double standards, but unfortunately that's how it is for most things. You have to look at it from the governments point of view whether you agree with it or not. The unfortunate truth is Frankies mate, that ended up unfortunately ending his life didn't end up on the front page of papers. If this bloke did that it would be plastered everywhere and a lot of questions would be asked about the states ability to protect inmates from eachother etc.

I don't condone it, as you'll see from my agreement with Frankie on my previous post, but I can still understand why they have done it, even though I don't agree with the double standards used.

Melbourne mate like I have said many times on here, if we all agreed with each other it would be a boring site and I do respect your point of view it is just my honest feelings on this topic.

maybe some bull took a fancy to him who knows. I agree that an ordinary person like most on this board would find it highly unlikely of being moved. I also agree that most people guilty of fraud should not be clogging up prison and should be fined and only jailed if unable to pay. But that goes for ordinary people as well as politicians.
