just read this and a short 5 min video about a 3 meter great white shark being tagged then its tag being washed up 4 months later and when they looked at the data it showed that its temperature rose suddenly and the only thing that could do that was it was in the stomach of another animal, I have watched wildlife shows and I know orcas/killer whales kill great white sharks but they tend to tag team and exhaust great whites then take bits of it and even your biggest killer whale is not going to swallow a 3 meter shark whole, definitely think there are huge monsters deep in the ocean.

{Ed001's Note - they don't tag team and exhaust them at all. They simply turn them upside down and put them into catatonic immobility then eat them while they can do nothing. It wouldn't need to swallow the Great White whole, just eat the bit with the tag on.}
Fair point edd but I do think there are undiscovered predictors in the oceans.
{Ed001's Note - there might well be, but you can only assume that this is one of those, as these marine biologists seem to have done, if the evidence rules out all known possibilities. Right now the evidence points to it being simply down to a Killer Whale. In my opinion they are just looking for a bit of publicity and funding by whipping up hysteria.}

Didnt it stay submerged for a week?

They only eat their liver anyway ed. and it also said that an Orcas temperature is different to that of the tag, they think it was killed by something that isn't a mammal.
maybe a giants squid?

maybe a giants squid?
JK92
{Ed001's Note - that is not true, they eat more than the liver, there is video footage of an Orca sharing its kill with young Orcas and they defo ate more than the liver. As for the temperature, I very much doubt they have accurate data on the internal temp of the stomach while it is digesting a meal and diving. If the suggestion is that the creature is likely not to be warm blooded, then that is likely to rule out a large shark anyway, the chances are a large predatory shark would not be truly cold blooded, Great Whites certainly are not. As for a Giant Squid, I would love that to be true, as they fascinate me, but are they really that capable a killer? After all, they are hunted by Sperm Whales, which are a very large and powerful species, but I would think a Great White would be able to put up a noticeable fight against one, at the very least? Maybe I am wrong, but it just seems they are jumping to conclusions in order to stoke up some research money to me.}

Probably just trying to get publicity ed.
Giant/Colossal squid can apparently grow over 60ft, I saw a video where they think one the caught on camera could be 110ft! incredible if true. fascinating creatures, that we hardly know anything about.

{Ed001's Note - I saw that program, they really do fascinate me, but size is no help to them against Sperm Whale. It would be intriguing to find out if they really are able to hunt and kill Great Whites, but it would seem unlikely as they don't seem to spend enough time in the same areas of water. It is an interesting suggestion though, certainly can't be ruled out, as there is nothing to say yes or no.}

The thing is though ed, even if one did grow big enough to kill a sperm whale. how would we ever know, too deep and a lot of animals down there to eat up the evidence.

{Ed001's Note - well we know that Sperm Whales main diet is Giant Squid, so it is unlikely they do grow big enough.}

That's like saying that dogs chase cats so no cat can chase a dog it's backward logic, there could be a species of squid that sperm whales avoid espically as one was caught on cam that was so big and could be relatively small compared to other squid, I'm not sure why the explanation of another bigger shark is seen as in correct it's a obvious answer, we know sharks eat smaller sharks so makes sense
{Ed001's Note - how is it like saying that? Dogs do not prey on cats at all. Your attempt at explaining it was just nonsense. In the wild cats are predators, dogs are scavengers.}

Are you not aware that dogs are pack hunters?
{Ed001's Note - and that is relevant because? Great Whites can also be pack hunters, but I fail to see your point. Or are you trying to suggest that packs of dogs hunt cats?}
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
If your aware that dogs are hunters and i'm using one hunter as a anology for another why are you debating that their scavengers? are you purposely pedantic or just like to derail debates so you feel like you have won? its extremly obvious i'm using dogs as a example because some of their prey can be one species but vary in size so much they will hunt one type but mnot the other, so to state that a dog will never hunt a cat because some are bigger is false as some are smaller, you have NO idea what sizes squid are so to assert that because a species whos size you know (whale )hunts them that another species (shark) can't be hunted by them is very starnge logic, its guess work dressed as fact
{Ed001's Note - are you not the one being deliberately pedantic? Or perhaps unable to read? I never asserted anything, merely said it was unlikely. As for the dogs things, it was a ridiculous comparison to compare a scavenger with a predator, it has no value as a comparison. It is not being pedantic, just not being stupid enough to accept a ridiculous comparison that makes no sense and has no logic to it. The only person derailing debate is yourself by getting all arsey about someone else disputing what you say, as it seems you are refusing to accept you could be wrong. The only thing that is obvious is that you never thought through your analogy and made a mistake with it. Or perhaps learn to read and understand that point that I was making is that a scavenger is not a true predator. Dogs will hunt the weak and infirm, they look for easy prey or scavenge carcasses. That is how they survive and why they came to be tamed by humanity in the first place. A Great White Shark I have no doubt would happily take advantage of a carcass it came across but it is not its main way of existence. As such, a dog will often be the target for creatures it might prey on, if circumstances allow, but it is very rare for a predator to become the prey for a creature it preys on. As for your crap about guess work and fact, no one but you claimed it to be a fact, only my opinion, unlike you I can tell the difference. Oh and it is not guess work anyway, it is observation based on the natural patterns of creatures across the world. A creature preyed on by a tiger is unlikely to prey on lions, for instance, or is that concept too difficult for you to understand? Perhaps you would like me to make some ridiculous comparison to hyenas or other non-related creatures it could prey on??}

Maybe a lucky few that don't get eaten grow to be huge ed, it is possible.
Like I said the thought the one they saw on camera could be over 110ft lol.
plus there is two species of large squid (that we know of) Colossal and Giant, maybe one of them grows too big to be preyed on.
Jk92 (what the hell is no name on about lol)

{Ed001's Note - I certainly wouldn't rule it out, it would be fascinating if they were able to prey on Great Whites. Also be interesting to know if they grew too big for Sperm Whales to tackles. I love Giant Squid, there is something amazing about them, I think it may have been all the stories about Kraken I grew up being told.}

So in essence because a whale at 60 foot can kill a squid at 10 to unknown lenth (although you seem to know their lenth some how )possible 100 plus feet plus then the squid of unknown size possible 100 feet plus can't kill a fish of 9 foot, hmm great logic there, btw I use cat as a example because it has a huge size diffrenece between different sub species as do squid its a real simple comparision I could of said fish and used a type of bird as the predator as of course fish differ massivly in size , you seem slighty transfixed on the part that was only an anology concentrating on size difference within a certain species in this case squid, i'm aware that we have no idea how big squid are so I don't assert that one couldn't kill a 9 foot fish
{Ed001's Note - and I never asserted that they couldn't, I said it was unlikely, but your analogy is still complete cack, just admit it, it is easier than making yourself look an arse by arguing about something no one has actually said other than you through your inability to read. I have also never claimed to know their length. This is the problem with people like you, you just make up crap in your head and twist what is actually said to suit the lies you want to make. I have had enough, no more, you can't read basic English, you twist my words to suit your lack of logic and to create arguments where there are none. It is time to move on, this is boring.}

You even asserted that dogs are scavengers so my anology didn't work, are you really unaware that dogs are "hunters"? to then start debating what type of hunter really missed the point and its obviously purposely missing the point tbh
{Ed001's Note - oh give it a rest.}
