i filled out a a pre filled form concerning gaza I just added my details and it got sent to my local mp who finally replied to me today (better late than never I suppose )

here is her reply copy and paste

Dear Franky

Thank you for writing to me about the debate on Palestinian statehood that took place on Monday 13 October. I received a large number of emails from constituents representing a very wide range of views.

I share your support for the establishment of a Palestinian state and want that day to come sooner rather than later. I strongly support, and have consistently campaigned for, the principle of a two-state solution. I believe a two-state solution equates to a viable and democratic Palestinian state living alongside a safe, secure Israel.

The legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people for their own state have gone unrealised for too long, as have the legitimate expectation of the Israeli people to live in peace and security. For that reason I want to see Britain acting as an honest broker for peace and to do everything it can to advance a peaceful and just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

I was appalled by the suffering and violence which occurred in Israel and Gaza this summer. I believe that both the Israeli and the Palestinian leaderships must be held accountable for their actions. I believe that a successful reconstruction of Gaza, and the maintenance of the current ceasefire, can only come into effect if Hamas is demilitarised and replaced by the moderate Palestinian Authority. I was encouraged at the progress towards reconstruction in Gaza made by the Cairo conference the other weekend, and, in recent days, the opening of the border by Israel into Gaza to allow in construction materials.

Now that a ceasefire is in place, we need to remove all the obstacles and barriers to negotiations. The goal of peace depends on two sides, Israelis and Palestinians, working together with active and engaged international support to develop a viable Palestinian state.

Britain has an important role to play in promoting economic development, trade and investment in the West Bank and reconstruction and demilitarisation in Gaza. These are the foundations upon which those negotiations will be built.

I believe all our efforts must now be focused on urgently restarting negotiations and direct dialogue between Israel and the Palestinian Authority as it is only through mutual agreement between the two that Palestinian statehood will be achieved.

I was unable to attend the backbench business debate recently due to a longstanding commitment. However, I am worried that unilateral moves could be counterproductive by removing the necessity of compromise and conciliation, which rests at the heart of the kind of genuine negotiations which can lead to a lasting peace. The reality, as the vast majority of MPs who spoke in the parliamentary debate recognised, is that the outstanding issues pertaining to the creation of a viable Palestinian state alongside, and at peace with, Israel can only be resolved at the negotiating table.

I want to reiterate that I fully support the creation of a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel and will continue to do all I can to work towards a just two-state solution.

I will, of course, continue to follow this issue closely. Thank you once again for writing to me and for sharing your views.

Yours sincerely

Luciana

here is my reply back to her.

thank you for the reply luciana, the thing that troubles me more (and I am not the only one)is the lack off action done by the west to stop israel, armed to the teeth by america against a nation that has had its civil liberties took away gradually decades ago, I am not getting in the argument who lived there first as its to complicated but as a human being watching my twitter timeline and reading and watching the images from truly independent reporters (not the mainstream media propaganda ) was truly shocking, and we the west stood by and allowed israel bomb gaza in to the stone age while killing babies and mothers, this is not just a tory stance to allow this to happen all parties seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet, one thing you may not be aware of luciana is there is a growing unrest with the actions taken like gaza and the recent fiasco Government inquiry into historical child sex abuse, we are staggered that you have let fiona may to try appoint people who are favorable to the establishment and not one objection, I am sorry to say this but I come from a region of labor supporters who voted labor generation after generation but speaking to people now we all feel you are out of touch and we need a peoples party like say the nha party, there is growing unrest on the street and on social network sites, action not words is needed because I am sorry to say this but more people are going to vote that vile party ukip and them and the tories are the last group I want in liverpool.

regards franky.

what I am trying to say here is do not just moan about issues try to be pro active emails/protests etc
i am not saying one email is going to make a great difference but if all of us do it then they have to listen.

Well done Franky. Her answer is quite considered and reassuring. And you're right of course, if millions were writing letters/emails, they would have to give it lengthier consideration.

Ryan.
{Ed001's Note - how is her answer reassuring? She wants to demilitarise one country, while allowing the other to keep its military! That would leave Palestine completely at the mercy of the Israelis and cause more problems than it would solve. It would make matters worse.}

I speed read it Ed001. I'm at work. I'll read it properly later and let you know what I think.

I agree with Ed001 on this. How would demilitarizing Palestine while allowing Israel to maintain a nuclear arsenal restore balance to the area and serve as the foundation of long-lasting peace between Israel and Palestine?

Also, why would Britain have an important role to play in a conflict so far away from their own borders? Were the Palestinians informed and have they agreed to this? Based on the British establishment's track record, Palestine would become another establishment colony in one way or another (monetary, geostrategic etc. ).

Additionally, I wonder what she considers a democratic state to be. When one has no notion of what democracy is how could they ever help others organize in such a way? A ludicrous concept if I ever encountered one.

Lastly, I think the word that deserves the most attention in her email is "viable". What does she perceive as a "viable" Palestinian state? I bet if one asked her, she would mutter something along the lines of "delicate situations, sensitive issues and complicated matters" without ever offering an explanation.

Politicians are actors that only do tragedies. Seeing as this is the age of comedy, the sooner we rid of them the sooner our laughter will rise to the sky.

Luciana berger is my local mp and I have always know she is Jewish which is no big deal alone because plenty of Jewish people are fed up of this and just want peace, but I have been doing a bit more digging about her since that email (should have done it before I replied) and here are a few facts.

1 she was member of the National Union of Students she resigned from the Executive Committee, accusing other NEC members of anti-Semitism

2 she appeared on a Radio Five Live show which also featured Kelvin MacKenzie, editor of that vile paper, when everyone from liverpool let there feelings known to her about it she claimed she never knew he was going to be on the program, simple answer is to walk out when she did find out, no excuse.

3 Berger was the Director of Labour Friends of Israel for 3 years, but stepped down before the 2010 general election to stand in Liverpool.

to her credit Berger was being criticised by the Jewish community in Liverpool and supporters of Israel for not using her position to defend the country for the sake of career advancement. After sixteen months in parliament, she had not mentioned Israel in any of her parliamentary interventions.

conclusion her roots are firmly behind israel but she knows the majority of people in this country who have seen the images from gaza find it offensive anyone codoning what israel did.

i am kicking myself I did not give a better reply to her email, I should have been more measured and pulled her up on some of the things she put on her email, instead I went in to rant mode.

No reason to kick yourself Franky. Same goes for Ryan and myself for that matter.

Career politicians are trained in the use of rhetoric. They can tell which buttons to push and which to avoid. How to beautify, promote and coerce one into identifying with establishment agenda, while simultaneously suppressing doubt. They are well versed in the use of trigger words, pretentious compassion and self-righteousness.

If one spent their life playing poker without cards, one would be expected to have mastered bluffing, misdirection and reading another's tells. I doubt anyone here spends their time contemplating how to better manipulate others, so it's not really a fair fight.

After reading her response a couple more times, I realize that one could write an essay on her honed use of rhetoric.
As for the rant mode you referred to, it is a natural defense mechanism triggered by one's perception of being manipulated while not yet realizing in what way, how and to what end.
Noticing it is the first step in not letting it happen again.
