this is a disturbing interview with a normal irish man in the 70s who the british army kidnapped and tortured him.

This sort of brutality was common through out the occupied counties, I myself and my then pregnant wife had the joy of been stopped by an infamous regiment on a quiet country road. Apart from the few minor bruises to myself and my wife having a gun put to her stomach with the threat to "rid the country of another feni/#n bas#*rd I genuinely feared for our lives.
We were spared further humiliation and possible injury by the arrival of several other cars to the checkpoint.
Such flash checkpoints were regular and many people had the pleasure of meeting the fine young gentlemen sent over to police a civil problem.

No doubt there were sadistic military who enjoyed that kind of stuff mate, that feller who spoke sort of said they were programmed to hate with all the propaganda in the 60s and 70s, I was going out with a girl when I was 18 and she used to babysit for this couple, the feller was in Ireland when he was in the army, he said he was a kid when he was there and petrified and that he knocked out a young 10 /11 year old who came out the entry unexpected (he did look remorseful )he said he was taught to hit first ask questions later, anyways being there fked him up, he took to the bottle, split from his partner and had nightmares all the time, he could not have a alarm clock in his bedroom as he would freak out, plus you could not wake him up, he attacked anyone who tried mum/dad/ partner, rambling on here but like the feller on the interview said the real culprits are the ones who the go ahead for this treatment but that does not excuse twisted military doing that to another human being.

I have no doubt you could mate my point is its never black and white, I have a mate who was in the army in Afghanistan about ten years ago, same things happening there like in ireland back in the day, kidnappings /murders and stuff he will never ever talk about, he hates what the military are doing there and calls it a con, I will ask him to write a post about what they were ordered to do but to be honest I doubt he would, think he just wants to forget about it.

Its mostly young teenage boys brainwashed into killing machines. Look at the Americans in Vietnam too, the Russians in Afghanistan. These jihadists now in Syria. Impressionable boys minds warped with hate and given a gun. Not excuse what any of them did, but the real villains are the high ups and those who control them.

There's no way you could ever compare what's happening in Afghanistan to what happened in Ireland, in scale alone.
But take other "campaigns", eg Kenya, which seems to be conveniently wiped from the history books.
I've started watching the link below, the greatest story never told, certainly eye opening.

I am not talking about Ireland and Afghanistan in the same breath I am merely saying the troops are trained to take orders and are brainwashed, some think they are right to do what they have done and some of them regret and wake up.
