just a oberservation,wife comes home after shopping for a few bits for xmas period, most of the stuff on shelves gone, bread,ice cream, etc etc , it was bare in teco /asda etc, my point is some feller said it would only take all the satellite,s down , then all the electronis ie, banks/credidt cards/shopps/petrol pumps would be down, if we panic buy shopping for 1 day(xmas day) after three days this guy said there would be mass looting if the satillites went down, after a week there would be killing for food,same thing happend in the usa when they could not get water or could not be botherd to when hurricain katrina happend , makes you think eh?

{Ed033's Note - This is the very reason why we need to create our own electricity locally as in each street or each house. The technology is out there for us to create electricity locally at a super cheap price but we're not allowed that technology.}
The poster was spot on! Works colleague was shopping today and the major supermarket he was in was in meltdown!
everything gone.. I took the old lady to a well know German low budget chain and most of the stock had gone too, even the obscure fruit and veg they sell. My point " the shops will only be closed for one day", what would happen if we had a major incident or disruption to the food chain. My guess would be absolute fight for survivalist type of violence!!

Agreed bep, this might sound a bit dramatic but i think its wise to store a few bits(i dont mean post nucular bomb scenario) i just mean maybe a load of tins and a few bits to last a week or 2, next year we are getting our xmas food stuff in november, two reasons /more stock/cheaper. and one day it will happen that there will be a shortage of food supplies from petrol strike or prices to a virus that will wipe out all satalittes.

{Ed033's Note - It's good to have spare food but if the worst case scenario does take place, when family, friends, neighbours come knocking to see if you have any spare food, if you give it away to them as you should then it doesn't matter how much spare food you have it will be gone very quickly.
However, in countries where a lesser than worst case scenario has taken place, those with spare food did a lot better than those that didn't and the more spare food the better. But if you buy food that needs to be cooked you require a way of cooking it if the electricity/gas is cut off.}

{Ed033's Note - yes, it's a nuisance that more people haven't woken up. I think it's because they're still "comfortable". In addition, we have heard that a large coronal mass ejection can not only wipe out the electrical grid but can also render car electrics useless as well. So hardly anyone can go anywhere a distance away.}
