I'm atheist, but I believe there is some sort of "higher power" at work which is not human and some sort of energy or knowledge, I don't believe in chaos.

It has a lot to do with being tinkered with, those who live away from civilisation are not as exposed to pollution and GM products. They're not as influenced by the television or the media. Their minds have not been as manipulated by their surroundings, i guess you could say they had more 'freedom'.

Why would they want to find out if any of the planets are habitable? Hmm? I know! So that as soon as they find one they can send people to it, claim it and then charge whatever the hell they like for a tour and then eventually a holiday, then a house, then a business etc etc etc.
You'll find the answer to most questions usually is in some relation to money, money is power.

So then edd, what if this Brookings report is broken by a single government or a government official? does the rest of the world deny it still or do they accept ET does exist?

{Ed033's Note - The brookings report is just advice to governments. As we've seen the mexican and brazilian governments have been more open. At the moment other governments are allegedly waiting for the US federal government to disclose but it appears this won't happen unless ETs themselves make it completely undeniable that they are here, which is also highly unlikely

{Ed033's Note - This is interesting RedPJ, why are animals more "in tune" with the Earth/environment than we are. It appears that we were more "in tune" before civilisation. People today who don't live in civilisation are more in tune with the environment.
Another idea would be that when we were allegedly genetically "tinkered" with, we may have lost more of these abilities.

Were looking for exoplanetary systems for a simple reason...to continue the human race at all costs.
Our planet is constantly at risk at becoming inhabitable. Factors ranging from fossil fuels running out to potential asteroid collisions. Add to these reasons as well the fact that the the milkyway is being sucked into the neighbouring andromeda galaxies gravitational field. Even though the latter is millions of years away, thats the only definitive timescale you can give planet earth.

Ed001 - since when does correlation imply causality? Nowhere have I suggested life expectancy is influenced by flouride intake. Instead I have responded to a point claiming flouride inhibits longevity with a simple demonstration of how that is flawed logic. I wrote "the idea that flouride limits our longevity doesn't really fit" - I fail to see how that suggests our increased life expectancy is related to increased flouride intake.
In not a single post have I claimed to be "so smart", I merely express my opinion on some topics that interest me. I'm sorry such behaviour elicits personal jibes, Ed! {Ed001's Note - except that you have in no way shown anything to suggest you even have the slightest clue what you are talking about. You are talking about life expectancy, which is absolutely irrelevant, as I have shown. Life span is the measure you would need to judge by, which has not increased at all, unlike your attempts to suggest otherwise. You were basing your cynicism on complete nonsense, using irrelevant and misleading stats to try and make a point. There will never be a way to prove whether a chemical really does shorten lifespan, after all how do we really know for sure someone's lifespan? What we can be sure of, is that filling our bodies with toxic chemicals, such as flouride, is not healthy or good for it.}

First off it is my belief that we are 'kept in the past', that simply all we strive for has already been achieved at least tens of thousands of years ago, and that because of this people can be 'MADE' to believe anything at all.
They say 'Virgin Birth'.
You think 'Immaculate Conception'.
I say 'Hypodermic Needle'.
(There is a disclaimer at the top of the page for those that need it)
This is one way of interpreting the term 'AMEN'.
First take a fresh look at the capital letter 'A' and understand that what you are looking at is a pictogram.
Viewed as a pictogram, symbol or sigil, even, it represents a whole other meaning than the standard one you were probably tought in school, part of a hidden and secret languge, esoteric as the generally accepted version is exoteric.
A
This pictogram is one shape made up of three straight lines. It is 3 parts in 1.
Using this interpretation we can compare it with symbology from the past (and the modern stuff, you can do this for yourself) and see if we can make any connections.
Here are two examples.
Triune Man. Tri une - three in one.
Hermes Trismegistus - three times Great.
Hermes, Aphrodite
-Hermaphrodite-
Two parts making one - three times great.
It would seem to be symbolic of something best here described by the biblical term 'Man', specifically some kind of three in one 'Man' (All men and hence A'men is the answer often given to this question).
Make of it what you will. I didn't invent the letter 'A' so you can have it, pretty well any way you want.
TRP.

Ed033 - Can you please link me to the evidence for an increase in the size of the earth sometime in the last 10,000 years, and how an increase in the mass of a planet will inevitably lead to a decreased orbital speed?

Before our diet incorporated raised flouride levels, the average life-expectancy of humans didn't surpass 50. As our flouride intake has (apparently) increased, so has our life-expectancy. Thus the idea that flouride limits our longevity doesn't really fit.
Further, as far as I'm aware, the pineal gland is largely neglected in neuroscience because it does not appear to have a more profound function than controlling our circadian rhythm. Not since the days of Decartes has the pineal gland seriously been considered as the "seat of the soul" (or anything equally metaphysical).
Rikki {Ed001's Note - if you can't understand that the average life expectancy of humanity has increased because of the decrease in malnutrition throughout the western world, then I fear for you. Certainly nothing to do with flouride and there is no way of knowing if it is holding the life expectancy down or not. In fact the life expectancy in a number of countries has not increased, as you suggest, in line with flouride intake. You are also failing to take into account that life expectancies in the past were affected by things such as wars, flu epidemics etc. Then there is the fact that the main thing which affects life expectancy is child mortality. Child mortality has massively decreased which has improved life expectancy hugely. Not really difficult to understand for someone who claims to be so smart is it Rikki? Certainly nothing to support your line in the figures.}

The exoplanets being assessed are all much closer to earth than billions of lightyears away (I'm guessing that's what meant by looking back so far in time). Further, they are merely observing whether the planets are in the "habitable zone" of their star system. It is impossible to identify the traces of life on a planet without obtaining a detailed account of its atmospheric composition.
