Recently or historically? I don't think there's much difference between the two. I may sit down and count the score once I have finished what I am doing.

However I'm not sure why you're bringing the Americans into a discussion about Russian politics unless your a Putin apologist.

During the cold war both sides were as bad as each other. Since the 90s the Americans have been worse in many respects, certainly in terms of foreign policy. But Russia under Putin is the worse domestically.

In total 111 journalists have been killed in Russia in putins terms as president up 2014. And another 22 during medvedevs term whilst Putin was prime minister. So 133 since 2000. Some are attributable to the mafia or Chechnya.

In comparison the internet doesn't have much info on American journalists apart from those attributed to al Qaeda or Isis. In the period 2000 to date there have been 4 American journalists killed including one during 911. And the last was 8 years ago.

No, every Russian channel is worse than fox news. And all state funded.

I don't see fox news telling everyone that the countries economic problems are caused by foreigners and gay people.

Have enjoyed reading the contents of this site/forum/page but for once I have to call B.S. As a South African I could not have read a more ridiculous, hate spewing rendition of what is happening.

After reading the mini article I immediatley forwarded it to my closest Afrikaans mates and a) they could not stop laughing and b) assumed someone living in a horror fantasy must have barfed this out.
Here is where the piece is just plain wrong for me. The author first goes to claim that Dutch settlers arived at the cape in the 1600's to find a bare wasteland which they made into some sort of paradise. No mention of the Kho-San people who they murdered, inslaved and then took their land from them. I guess that is all gravy, since that is actuall genocide we are talking about.

And to say 80 000 thousand white Afrikaaners have been "targeted" since "94 is unbelievable. If you know ANYTHING about South Africa it would be that unfortunatley a lot of people are murdered EVERY year, black, white, indian, asian ALL suffer the brunt of crime in this country. As I type this, my Aunt is planning the funeral of her dead son who was stabbed to death on thursday. He is neither white nor afrikaans, and I bet he was one of hundreds to have lost his life that week or month due to a crime of that nature.

When I read the "truth about South Africa" I was expecting something on the spy leaks or whatever they are but not this bile I had to read.
Yes, white afrikaaners are victims of violent crime in our country. But so are black South Africans, white English South Africans, South African Muslims, South African Jews, Buddists, South Africans of Asian descent, American descent you name it.

The only thing that was actually worth agreeing with and not subjective "hate speach" was the part on the ruling party being as corrupt and incompetant as they come.
Hope you post this

Supposedly it had a lot of top secret technology on board, a test bed platform for new equipment that they didn't want nato getting hands on hence refusing a joint rescue mission.

Because illegally invading two countries in less than a decade didn't give enough cause already?

From the accounts I've heard he was planning on exposing the illegal troop deployments in Ukraine.

No-one in Russia is allowed to question the regime. You either end up in prison like Pussy Riot or dead like Litvinenko or others. Look up how many journalists have been murdered in Russia since 2000.

All tv stations in Russia are state funded. This means the Kremlin controls all news. Its little more than propaganda telling a country of over a 100 million people what one man wants them to be told. And that one man is a Stalinist. And stalin was a pig. A man far worse than hitler. But a hero to Putin. If every channel you see repeats the same lies soon you believe those lies.

Nobody. Why would it serve anyone outside Russia?

The only person to gain by this is Putin.

How many more political opponents, dissidents, and truth speakers have to die before people accept Putins culpability and realise what a monster he is.

I weep for my homeland. I weep for my people.

Just because people saw planes doesn't necessarily mean there were planes, lots of technology either drone or holographic, could account for what people think they saw

Short and to the point presentation on how earth's weather is mostly affected by the sun. Towards the end there is also a mention of how the scientific community is in fact inhibiting scientific progress.

Thank you for sharing Ed033, half an hour well spent.
