Mr. Nobody, you said, "I would hope Ireland would leave the EU with Britain as Ireland has a common corridor with Britain".
A common corridor? What’s that?

You need to understand if Britain leaves the EU and Ireland stays in the EU the common corridor would would in jeopardy!
Before you comment on something you should become educated on it? The ccommon corridor is important to the 300,000 plus British people that live in Ireland and to many of the 6M British people that claim Irish in there family tree and travel to Ireland.
"Britain willl leave the EU if the British people get a free vote to leave the EU surely you understand that?"
David Cameron wants a referendum before the end of 2017. The likelyhood is that Britain will have renegotiated it’s EU position before then, and that will have a huge influence on the outcome of any proposed referendum. As I said in the short term Britain leaving the EU is unlikely. Do you understand that?

No I don't understand that and here's why - Nigel Farage once in Government wants a Referendum on Britain EU membership whether Mr. Cameron renegotiates Britain's EU membership or not also the current UK Government might not get to its full term?
Also Mr. Farage and UKIP are likely to be in the next Government and so the British people will get their vote on EU membership and it may be before 2017.
Mrs. Merkel has also said Britain cannot re-negotiate its EU membership is she joking at this time?
You have commented on the Anglo/Irish dynamic quite a bit actually.
Please illustrate where and how?
But you see it in a very black and white way. Your hope that Ireland would follow Britain out of the EU is misguided,
Why is it misguided? You make comments but never back them up!
And indicative of a lack of understanding of how the Irish think.
Many Irish people I know don't want to be in the EU but feel they have no choice as the country is in such dire financial propblems.
Infact Ireland could not have got into the financial mess its in today if it was not a member of the EU as it would have been unable to get access to the vast funds it got from EU bankers if it stayed outside of the EU.
Ireland will not follow Britain.
I never said it would merely expressed hope it would and cited problems that would be created by one country staying within the EU and the other leaving the EU.
John Bruton former Irish Prime Minister has highlighted these problems he wants both Britain and Ireland to remain in the EU though.
There is a strong emotional bond between the two countries. It’s a complicated and subtle relationship, as our shared history is full of tragedy, but there is great respect and affection between the two peoples today. Ireland today is finally shedding the post-colonial self consciousness and finding it’s own identity. Ironically, and for a completely different set of reasons, so too is Britain. Ireland and Britain will remain economically and emotionally extremely close regardless of EU membership.
I would not disagree with this in broad terms!
Being in the EU is very important to Irish people.
No its not, its important to some people and most probably for the wrong reasons such as Irish government brainwashing.
The most recent Red C poll this year shows that 85% of Irish people want Ireland to remain in the EU. But polls can be misleading at the best of times and I always take them with a pinch of salt.
If you don't believe in Polls why cite them?
The Government in Ireland want the EU and they have told the people in Ireland over and over again that Ireland has no future without the EU. I am many other people in Ireland don't believe this.
You go on to say “The only reason the EU is popular is Ireland at the moment is that the people there have been convinced that the ATM's would be dry if Ireland left the EUâ€. “Some people in Ireland are starting to wake up to the EU not the majority by a long way but some are hopefully it will spreadâ€.
Your view of Irish people’s lack of understanding of the EU is arrogant and patronising.
Really how is it arrogant and patronizing? Tease it out and form an opinion as to why?
The EU has been bad for Ireland (more anon) and all you do is just just throw insults never explaining how my post is arrogant and patronising.
Here's some of the reasons the EU is bad for Ireland
Ireland cannot be in Monetary Union with the mighty German economy and prosper its virtuallly impossibe what's good for Germany economically is bad for Ireland economically. David McWilliams has wrote extensively on this in the Sunday Business Post and elsewhere.
Ireland has no control over the euro its cannnot set its own exchange rates, its locked in to the euro.
Ireland has handed over 80% of its fishing rights over to the EU. If Ireland had its full fishing rights thousands of Jobs could be created.
I could go on but I have to work.
“Maybe if you spent less time on TV and more time finding out how the world works it would serve you better?â€
By the way, I don’t own a television, so I can’t spend less time on it.

The death penalty should only be for people who kill children and serial killers.
Read discussionI agree technology has moved on! But mistakes still happen! I remember watching a video when I was young can't remember the name of it but it showed executions live from all other the world! The one that sticks with me was an African man who was burnt to death for allegedly raping a girl from the village! You see him burning tied to a tree! He was found not guilty 9 days later! Frankie for me there has to be 100% proof that they committed the crime before the punishment is given!

Jimi if anyone steals a pint of milk from my local tesco they deserve to be executed there and then. Why bother with a trial? Just kill them as they walk out and let that be a lesson to everyone else.

The death penalty always sounds like a great idea when emotions are running high. Derek Bentley and Timothy Evans are tragically not here to offer their point of view on the subject. The Guildford Four and Birmingham six thankfully still are. You've only got to get it wrong once to realise it is ultimately flawed.

Rr it has to be 100 per cent for me, take for instance the april jones case, if there was a death penalty and he was threatened with it unless he gave information were the body was he would sing like a bird, true mistakes have been made in the past but technology a lot more advanced plus I am not saying kill them in a few months, give it a time limit of say 3 years then execute.

No mate you are judging that everyone on benefits as having it custy, trying to get a job now is hard enough but getting a job that pays well is near impossible, don't get me wrong their are scroungers who play the system but governments and media are putting out negative propaganda about people on benefits, I think if you done a poll and asked people on income support if they would work for a job that was secure and was a decent wage would they come off the dole, I think you would be surprised.
Read discussionAll these people against the death penalty for pedos etc, have you ever worked for the police, social servies or even spoke to a surgeon who had to do emergency surgery on a toddler who has just been abused by a group of men and or animals ( not being vulgar, check the copine scale the police use its an official scaling system) some people are no more human than the chair i'm sitting on, not as a result of my categorization, but of theirs.

those on benefits they get most of their rent and council tax paid for them subsidised from taxes of the workers. The ones being victimised are the likes of me who work full time and have to pay for all this crap and then through tax pay to allow the neighbours to sit in their pants all day watching garbage and smoking weed. Maybe not everyone has such neighbours. But the only one's I feel sympathy for are the poor elderly who got clobbered with this too and other young families like myself.

@Jay, The death penalty is not just there for the victims family or some sort of medieval eye for an eye, it’s also there to act as a deterrent to would-be pedophiles, rapist, murderers. I believe in the death penalty for horrific crimes, especially ones on children or elderly (most vulnerable in society). Actually if it was up to me, it would be a lot worse than death some would face

Happy is the wrong word when it comes to vengeance, me personally would not lose any sleep if a convicted child killer got the death penalty or like I have mentioned in this subject that if people are against the death penalty then no segregation for anyone in prison, the nonce's have been protected inside for to long, let them be helpless like the children they have scarred or killed,
my vengeance is definitely not religion based just my own thoughts mate.
