I agree with you on that Franky for sure. I think Nato and US won't be able to do much though. As Eric said the US actions in the middle east leave little room for them to take the moral high ground.

KP will probably disagree with me on this, but I think this was coming ever since the Ukraine got independence. Unfortunately Putin just saw his chance and took it. But it's going to be impossible for Ukraine not to split in two now. What will be interesting a few years down the road will be to see if the new smaller Ukraine is fast tracked into the EU. It would be the best way to ensure that part of it at least is kept from Putin's grasp.

All the best pal.

Ryan.

No worries Ryan and you are right I was trying to use a hypothetical situation. what I am trying to say is is another country wants to be on the doorstep like NATO/USA in the Ukraine then the Russians are going to get paranoid about it, I will use a different example, Scotland runs itself and moves itself from English constraints then china want to plough money in to Scotland you can bet any money Westminster are not going to be bothered,

Sorry to correct you Franky but there is no such country as Southern Ireland. Nothing personal pal, but when will English people dispense with this misguided notion?

And the last time we had hired mercenaries in Ireland they were called the`Black and Tans' who were essentially a gang of Charlie Bronsons who wreaked havoc here. They were a gang of hardened criminals who terrorised and murdered the people of Ireland on behalf of Britain.

I'm not trying to get at you Franky, you are the heartbeat of this site, and I have enormous respect for you, but I felt the need to say that.

There is a bigger problem between Japan and China over a small Island than what's happening in the Ukraine, if you have mad people in charge, sooner or later the

Sorry Eric I have to disagree, the incident may be small in relative terms but the location of the protest/riots is huge, I think the british would be pretty pissed off if there were hired mercenaries who burnt and rioted in southern Ireland and say china said "we will help you" then basically moved in, can you imagine how downing street would feel?do I feel there will be ww3?no but tensions are high.

Couldn't agree more Eric. They will posture endlessly and ultimately do nothing.

I doubt that the situation will escalate much further. Russia is merely flexing its muscle, reminding folk that if necessary, they will take care of their interests. by their rules. An all out offensive by Russia would be met with world wide condemnation, however, the incident is just too small for there to be an East vs West military conflict.

The UK and the US aren't really in a position to offer opinion since they declared war on and took residence in two countries that were no threat to their respective nations or nationals, all of which was based on a home grown lie.

Agreed Franky, this could get very messy indeed and unfortunately we signed the treaty with America on Ukraine independence I believe, does not bode well at all

I will just say that the guy has some very unorthodox views that in todays society will get you into trouble. I believe the allegations are true but not easily provable.

He was a ill person a schizophrenic if you will, and its not a case I believe in everything he says and its pity me pleas, we will go around in circles edd alls I suggest is people interested in this topic do not take the official spiel that is fed and don't take my beliefs read up on why they will not grant him a hearing and are continuously moving from prison to prison without any reason then you can draw your own conclusion.

For nearly twenty years CB has gone threw legal loopholes trying to get his case heard and I have been following his case for a while and even thou at the time he was mentally ill he never killed/abused anyone, he abused the system he abused the establishment and to be honest edd I find it astounding you buy into the thug/vicious man even now, and I am sorry but there is a relevance which is my whole point, if everyone done what CB did and done 40 years fine I will accept it but they don't in fact I am struggling to think of anyone who has done a long stretch without killing anyone, conclusion he was attacking the establishment of this country while he was sick and to this day he is getting shafted, Jesus Christ nelson Mandela was a sane person when he was part of a group that killed people then done his time now is lauded as one of the greatest leaders, before anyone judges take the time to read in his case and how he is getting messed around because he basically retaliated against prison officers which was unheard of in the 70/80s, I am sorry edd I am completely the opposite of your views.

My thoughts are not condoning what he has done in the past is, he has done forty years behind bars, he has never killed anyone never sexually messed around with anyone, he has had a run in with the establishment and fought with them physically and now for the last ten years or so he has fought with them threw the courts and petitions, he illegally gets moved around from prison to prison without any explanation and still in solitary confinement after all these years, the media perception of him is always going to be bad, let's look what he done when no doubt he was a ill man and let's look at rapist /pedos who do a fraction of the time he has done, let's not forget he embarrassed HM prison with the banners and the setting fire to the roof many years ago and they are still trying to make a example of him.

Although I've seen the biopic, I've never read the wpedia page about him until now.

Not sure if I can post a quote here, but my favourite line by far is:

On remand in Woodhill he took a civilian librarian hostage, and demanded an inflatable doll, a helicopter and a cup of tea from police negotiators.

He seems like he probably wouldn't be able to cope with life outside.

Didn't he originally only get something like ten years for armed robbery then get more added on for being a knob, I agree with ed, its his fault.

My instincts also told me the sex charges were a complete fabrication, and an attempt at character assassination. I could be wrong but that was my initial reaction when I heard it.
