17 May 2016 12:46:59 Do you understand what fracking is? The point I am making that over the past two years there has been a media hype surrounding it. Everything has the potential to be unsafe. Look at the lives lost in industry that's a fact people die in construction everyday and you don't get the media calling for a ban on building or road works or the many jobs where people die and people do die and as of yet no one has died from fracking and people are up in arms about it. I'm just trying to say tha people need to look at things in perspective.
You tell me why you think fracking is unsafe. What chemicals are you referring to that is used in shale fracking it's just pressuring up the formation. There are other methods of fracking like acid fracking where you pump acid to break down limestone (alkaline) or cold water fracking where you pump cold water into hot formations. Providing you don't frack near water tables which they don't or shouldn't. Trust me if they did it would be the end of it. I'm only telling you I understand it very well and if you choose to believe other false information out there then that's up to you. Just offering a bit of knowledge from experience that's all.

Where in Ireland is it as a few of my old workmates have just gone out there and they have had problems with protestors throwing things at workers cars etc. And they are drilling conventional wells and gas storage which just drills with salt water then leach the cavity with water when completion has been done?
16 May 2016 13:33:50 I just mainly want to point out ed that there is more bs than reality in it and in principle I'm actually against most of what the oil and gas industry are about and just wanted to add my opinion from someone who works in the sector. Ever land rig in the uk now gets frequently attacked by protestors (most of whom are paid to do so) and only some rigs are fracking. But these are the same people who protest against wind farms etc.
16 May 2016 13:26:10 I am obviously no geologist and only go on what the professionals tell me. Fracking can have its implications and go wrong as can any type of practise. It is not allowed near water tables but either is any type of drilling, the point is that it's a new phenomenon in the fact that people are complaining and that was due to the fact of the so called earthquake that happened near Blackpool. Fracking has always been done and it's to make the zone in which they are drilling permeable.
The thing that people don't realise that the new craze is shale gas and shale is not permeable so all wells need to be fracked and this is achieved by closing the annular and pressuring up the formation until you see pressure drop which indicates that you are fracturing the formation. There are other more aggressive forms of fracking using acid which people don't realise. Like I said before there are things that are shocking but fracking is as safe as anything can be providing regulations are kept, and the punishments are steep and oil company's adher to them.
I can tell you on good authority that people in this subject are barking up the wrong tree and point out that these facts that people are using are rubbish and Ill informed. Oil and gas in itself is obsolete and there are better renewable methods and it is a case of the people that be are dumbing down evolution for monetary gain.

12 May 2016 09:38:31 I have mentioned before 95% of this anti fracking bs is propaganda and these corrosive spills are salt water and this radioactive waste is NORM (naturally occurring radioactive material ) which is pretty much harmless and is natural lol. And from fracking I doubt it would create any norm as the casing won't be in the ground that long! I don't understand Why all this nonsense has come about its been happening for as long as people have been drilling for oil. There are some disgraceful things in oil and gas but this isn't one of them.

Like in the post the other day most discrimination stems from people's fear of a so called taboo subject. On a different note did anyone see the article of the boy from Birmingham who got suspended for having short back and sides! Unreal this is the problem the fact that schools employ fascist tactics to brainwash kids and parents into following the official line.
Apparently it's actually against the law to tell your children that something they are taught at school is rubbish. The other month I corrected my children on a subject that they were taught at the school regarding ww2 and when my son brought it up in class I was called in by the head teacher and told that it was unacceptable for my child to say what he did.
I said what's the problem he is correct at which I was told that it was insensitive and I said I don't care. Two weeks later we got a letter from social services and told that it was tantamount to abuse by radicalising my children and that any further instances would be monitored lol.

I been a Yorkshire man born in 82 could not comprehend years of hurt pain and bigotry! But in the last 6 months I've had the absolute privilege to work with a man from ballymena a catholic dude and he is very well read and a gentleman in his 60s and I've had some wonderful convosations with the guy and he has told me chapter and verse about his childhood in NI and I understand it so much better now! I have always taken as I find and I think people need to see the bigger picture and what I am before an Englishman or anything is that I'm a father and that is my castle .

Working in oil and gas and working with plenty of guys north of the border I have been spat at called all the names under the sun and I do understand that you get idiots and in no way am I suggesting that it's wide spread but I was shocked that the hatred was stronger than I expected and it was more than 50% (of the people I met! Maybe I was just unlucky) I got all the same thing told to F off and go work back in England and all the usual tripe to some that wouldn't even speak to me! I took it in my stride and didn't make a fuss (and tried to joke about it which didn't go down well lol) the reason I mention it is because I didn't realise the hate that still does exist and it took me completely by suprise, I thought it was friendly banter but three weeks working off the Shetlands and it was a nightmare and I eventually came and found work in dorset. It's always the few that make it difficult for the sane people who want to get on.
