Put my point on the wrong thread so I will bring it to the top:

Would the vote have been "rigged" had there been a yes vote franky? The fact that it seemed like more "yes" on social media sites only suggests that those people would vote in that way and to suggest social media sites represents a general view is wrong. Most middle aged and older businessmen & women I know don't even really use social media and they are more likely the ones who would vote no. I doubt all the farmers, landlords, old school business men & women of Scotland would use social media sites. Many people wouldn't say how they vote because of ridicule and reprisals too. I'm English and half swedish with some irish and Scottish blood chucked as have most of us I expect but either way had Scotland voted yes I wouldn't have been that bothered but I am of the belief that things are better off more together than apart. I don't understand how easily some people bought into the fact that just swapping one government for another would make the people of Scotland have any more honesty and power and less of a self serving government than they have now. I'm happy that Scotland is still with us, not for any reason, I just think it's better for all. Now one thing that does remain and is now enhanced is yes or no, Scotland is almost split down the middle which won't help to be honest and this will rumble on. On a slightly different note why is it that most english people I know generally in sport myself included would either want one of the home country's, (Wales, Scotland, ni) to beat another team/country unless our own, or not be bothered. But when it comes to many Scots in my experience they would support amy other team against England, I suppose backed up by a general dislike, resentment or even hatred against the English. Is this also directed at Wales and n. I. or just the English? I know it's historical but is it just because of things before all our lifetimes as there is nothing I can think of in the last few generations? It's not even as if English people I know think they are above Scotland or anyone else, far from it. And in my own opinion it came across to me as one of the most democratic votes I've experienced in my lifetime. Even the votes that didn't count and we're fairly insignificant were broken down to the vote and reasons given why. I don't think you could get any more of a fairer vote any where in the world which is I believe a good thing.

Just to add to my post. Selfishly my ideal world would be a union with Scandinavia, Finland and iceland included. A little like a north sea union. I know it would never happen but all of us would be separate countries with separate currencies (apart from the pound). We would all be (apart from north Scandinavia Arctic circle) be surrounded by water. Have our own border controls separate from Europe and have lovely countries to live in and move between. I'm a believer in safety in numbers. The French often show what can happen when people pull together if they don't like what is going on and there is no other reason why any other country can't do the same except for the reason that many can't be bothered, many are uneducated or don't understand and many don't think any change can happen.

I take on board the social network site votes with people over a certain age, not the rallies were the masses were out in force (not reported on msm)plus also mate I don't buy all business men and landlords would automatically vote no.

i have always got on with scottish people and it might be just me but working class cities like glasgow and liverpool have more in common than london and liverpool, but I am not your stereotypical english flag waving monarchy loving type of guy.

I didn't say they would vote no franky. I was just pointing out that many of them wouldn't divulge which way they would vote or would be on social media sites. Someone voting for change imo is more likely to say they are voting yes rather than someone more prudent in their views say.

Firstly, if Scotland had its own government it would at least be housed closer to home and would thus make it easier for people to go to the parliament building. Which in turn could instill some minor sense of insecurity to the corrupt politicians.

Secondly, I hope you are joking but England still occupies a lot of countries, though it chooses to "properly" refer to them as colonies.
As an example, they invaded Cyprus twice, once supposedly purchasing the land and its subjects from the French Lusignan and the second leasing it from the Ottomans.
They officially left the country in 1959 while unofficially they are still occupying it. They imposed a constitution on the country in 1960 and have also placed them under the rule of the crown.
In 1963 they reached an agreement with Turkey about them occupying 37% of the island and England maintaining their military bases. Turkey fulfilled its side of the bargain when they invaded the country in 1974. This map was leaked and as the line was drawn with green ink, it is what inspired the term Cyprus Green Line.
Additionally, the only two fresh water sources, on an island plagued by drouth, are where their two "sovereign" military bases are conveniently located.
Also, know that this is nothing as compared to what they did to China, India and most of the continent of Africa.

Thirdly, have you ever heard of the commonwealth games and what do you suppose they are?

This might sound harsh but you should return the queen her glasses.
The establishment is using England as a tool to oppress more than one third of the world. About one third through the US and the rest is mostly split between Israel, China and Turkey. Though Germany seems to be catching up fast again.

Zari. Not quite sure why your trying to give me a history lesson on colonisation as none my post hardly refers to anything you are trying to lecture me on. I'm certainly not interested in England increasing the commonwealth (and yes I am aware what it is!) I am not pro-Europe and I am not pro globalisation. I just have my own beliefs and opinions based on my own persona.
We can all get information from anywhere and I doubt there is a country in the world that hadn't aggressively had an interest in another, certainly beyond England and the u. s. but you reserve your acute option for them

You should probably read your post again then.

Something about a general dislike, resentment or even hatred towards England based on historical events, that happened before all our lifetimes and have not happened again for the last few generations.

That post was proof that what you stated was false. It has happened again and it is still happening.
One month ago the English military base in Dhekelia, Cyprus opened fire on a local fishing boat. They were clearly not trying to kill anyone because they didn't and were most likely trying to scare them for "fun".
The military base command said no such event took place and if anyone was shot at it was their fault.

People are pissed off at England because it is such an effective establishment tool. The fact that there are and have been others just like it, does not in any way justify it.
The majority of the world's human population are peaceful people. That said there are a few murderers out there as well.
Comparing ones self with the murderers in an attempt to justify ones own actions is only a step before mimicking them.

Zari. I don't have to read my post again and stop twisting the words in my post. I say a dislike from Scotland yet you start posting a "general dislike" and quickly go to the English military in cyprus.
I could probably pick any any country in the world and an incident in a given week or month and use it suit any argument. I have posted about a "democratic" vote in Scotland and a relationship between Scotland and England that no one has answered including you. There is nothing in my lifetime which has fuelled the dislike that I am aware of between the 2 said countries. I expect you will respond taking me around the world stating as fact any incident between whatever countries you pick and hit me over the head with it. Maybe read my post again zari and maybe offer a reason instead of trying to represent the globe.

Though I can not prove it, I believe there are no democratic votes in any of the so called developed countries.
Elections are manipulated by the establishment and their well placed pawns. Some proof to that exists but nothing of the scale to support the above mentioned belief.

Additionally, human beings can dislike ones behavior even if it does not directly cause them injury. Presented with proof that it does so to others, who they consider fellow human beings, some feel empathy or compassion.

The reason I mention Cyprus is because that is one place I regularly receive accurate information from.

Zari you are probably right about democratic votes and my views are similar. In my op I put that I thought it was one of the "most democratic votes I've witnessed" and I still think it is. I still believe it was a lot more of a fairer vote than maybe 99% of the world. Only I think some people were excluded to vote in Scotland because of age but if you were a Scottish national living abroad or say in England then you weren't allowed to vote. I believe that was one of the only downsides. But if we are going back in time also Scotland had a good few pre-emotive invasions of England and Ireland. They even sailed to Panama to colonise Panama to try and control a global shipping channel. It failed. Had they been successful then they would have established a far reaching empire. As I said nearly all countries flex their muscles at some point but it's the successful ones that develope a dislike, resentment even hatred from others.

I reiterate, the majority of the worlds population is peaceful. A few countries have attempted to expand their imaginary borders or supplement their lack of a logical economy through violence. How that behavior can be justified and even admired baffles me.

Hate is a waste of energy. People who feel hate are those fixated with the problem and have never moved to envision a solution to it and then a world without it. I choose to work towards a world where the only muscles that matter are ones heart and brain.
