I'm back over in London working for the next few months. I have been doing a bit of jogging walking from a tube station a couple stops short etc. I noticed an ad for a local gym, very reasonably priced and decided to investigate.
All looked good until I found entry was gained by biometric fingerprint scanner. I declined not because I have done anything that would interest any security organisations I just think big brother is imposing himself more and more
How much more information does these faceless people need.
{Ed001's Note - wow, that is scary for a gym to want to use that.}

My thoughts too.
My thoughts too.
{Ed001's Note - like you I would just use a different gym.}

It's 1 of the chains. Lifted a brochure, it mentions the fingerprint scanning too.

{Ed033's Note - it's good to use your purchasing power to get companies to change their policies or go out of business, except the problem we have is when government make it mandatory for companies/places to have such policies.

And it will become mandatory.

{Ed001's Note - sadly you are right.}

We live in a totalitarian system masquerading in the disguise of democracy.
The nazis and soviets had i'd cards. Its been decided at the highest level in Brussels to bring them in.
Biometric i'd cards to allow access to train stations, airports, even shops. All in the name of security.

{Ed001's Note - I fully agree. All of it pretending to be in our interests, by faking events to scare us into kowtowing to their demands. Everytime they go too far and we fight back, a compromise is accepted that is another step closer to a 4th reich. Then a few years later we end up having the original proposal pushed through to 'protect us'.}

Indeed. Isn't there already some cars that can be activated only by biometrics? Supposedly as an anti theft device but by a remarkable coincidence astonishingly handy for tracking.
To go off on a slightly related tangent its interesting to see politicians who have been committed eurosceptics for decades suddenly become pro European regards to Britains referendum. What dirt could they have?

{Ed001's Note - they are politicians, they will have so much dirt you could bury the entire cast of zombie extras from The Walking Dead in it.}

There's dirt and then there's dirt.
I'm not a fan of horror films.

{Ed001's Note - it is a TV series, and I am not a fan of horror either, but I do quite enjoy Walking Dead, but it is more about people than horror. It is more of a post-apocalypse survival story than about the horror of zombie hordes.}

Sounds like a mix of new years eve in Moscow and Siberian survival training. You've never lived if you haven't experienced new years eve in Moscow.

But carrying your phone isn't compulsory. People lose them, break them, they get stolen or not charged. It can be dodged. A compulsory card however with large fines or imprisonment for not having it is a different matter.
