Discussion #12536Talk Sense

08 Oct 2015 00:16:06
Seeing as I missed the opportunity to enter the discussion on firearms now on page 2, I thought I'd share my opinion on the matter in a new post.
The consensus arrived at was that people should be limited in the type of firearms they have access to, which I disagree with.

Due to various reasons, one of which was idolizing Robin Hood as an embodiment of social justice, I have come to perceive criminals and crime differently to the currently prevailing perception. I see crime as the cause of physical damage to another being or the act of limiting another being, thereby inhibiting them from acting as they will.

In analyzing violent crimes I've concluded that the majority of these incidents occur due to certain peoples inability to access the resources they require or have been conditioned to think they require.
In the rest of the cases and not unrelated to those just described, violence is an expression of peoples uncontrolled fears. Fears which have paralyzed their cognitive functions or have taken the form of insecurities and overcome the reins of their underdeveloped logic.
Incidents where one sets out to harm another simply out of a desire to do so are rare, even though Hollywood conditions us to think otherwise.
The solution to all but the last category is care and love on a social level. But before I digress back to the point at hand.

Violent crimes are rarely committed with registered firearms for logical reasons. These firearms are obtained illegally through unofficial channels. Seeing as the black market is not a modern invention, that is not only unlikely to stop but quite the contrary.
As more regulations are put in place to supposedly ensure public safety more and more people are going to turn to said unofficial channels for their supply. Which only exposes people to higher risks due to the nature of aforementioned channels and the lower quality available. Not unparallel to substance regulation attempts.

Furthermore by prohibiting people from having equal access to equipment only puts them at a disadvantage. It encourages those with access to them by indirectly assuring them and directly ensuring that they will have superiority in armed confrontation.
I presume this to be the reason why avoidable police and military shootings occur. These people are subconsciously aware that the only exchange in which they will prevail is that of armed confrontation, as the vast majority of them are poorly educated and emotionally immature, and act accordingly.

However, those are not the reasons we should have equal access to equipment and resources. The true reason reveals itself with a look to the foreseeable future.
The search for both infinite and perpetual energy sources is not new, though it has recently yielded encouraging results. If such sources were to become widely available it would mean that we would all find ourselves in a position to manifest both our purest dreams and our deepest nightmares. For it to be so we must first be ready to choose one over the other. A decision which due to the magnitude of its effects cannot be reached through imposed limitations but only through conscious choice.

If we are to evolve we must understand that what we attribute to others and in turn forms the foundations of our fears is only that which we refuse to recognize in us.
The way forward for our species entails ever greater abilities and possibilities. As such it is up to us to shape our future and that will always be in our image. To do so we must first realize what that image is, then move to refine it, from that achieved position compose a new one that we resonate with and then proceed to harmonize with it.

So its not the muggers or rapists fault its societies? Is that the basic point?

Do you think someone is born a mugger or rapist, Kim? Do you look at a newborn child and see evil and hatred, or innocence and love?

An extremely narrow minded and not thought out response mate.

Ofcourse everyone has to take responsibility for their own actions, which we as a society dictate they will, through the use of the 'justice' system and jail. Yet there is no doubt that people that grow up and are exposed to violent or criminal upbringings are far more likely to live those same lives, with the same violent tendencies.

So do we take the narrow minded short sighted approach and punish people in retrospect, forever maintaining the cycle, or, do we look at what is showing itself to be the root cause of the problems, and offer up solutions which may impact outcomes.

Society is geared towards judgement and subjectiveness. Its all want, want, want and now, now, now. If people weren't made to feel less then because they didn't have something someone else did, or because we are told money equates to success, people wouldn't be willing to do violent or criminal things in order to obtain it, when their environment gives them little hope of being able to do so through productive and legal avenues.

You can continue to live life pointing the finger at people saying they are bad because they do x,y or z, lock them in a box to think about what they did, or you can ask yourself why are they acting that way and try and work out what would eleviate the obvious stress factors that cause a once innocent and loving baby to become so disconnected.

Very interesting post and replies there.

I'm a firm believer that we are born a blank canvas and that every sight, sound , taste experience etc shapes us and that as life goes on each individual becomes as unique as their fingerprints also your opinions on this have come through whatever conditioning you have received and mine also if you like.

What we have to be very careful about is not think that we have ever risen above and become free thinkers because that doesn't exist no one is free!

How most killers, rapist and what we have been led to believe as bad people in our society become what they are for reasons you state above (not in all cases but the vast majority) and in your opinion the best way would be to stop these triggers or conditioning that causes them. Would that lead to a perfect world or one that is even more heavily controlled than the world we currently live in because in some ways you could be suggesting a systematic brainwashing of all to be the perfect human.

In a horrible way the mix of society now is more natural and even if we all lived in the wild we would still have to defend ourselves against beasts or people that want to steal your slice.

Or maybe that's what I believe because I watched Appleseed 😃

The process of conditioning-deconditioning-reconditioning is indeed perpetual. We apply it to ourselves, hopefully as much as the establishment does to us, whenever we consciously choose to alter a behavioral or analytical pattern we have adopted. The fact that doing so is a possibility proves that everyone is free or at least as free as they choose to be.

I fail to see how the conscious adoption of commonly beneficial characteristics equates to brainwashing. Developing one's self so as to be beneficial to the all is actually pro-evolutionary.
Our ability and willingness to coexist in organized societies is the exact behavior that enabled us to survive and later prosper in the adverse conditions we encountered in our infancy as a species. It has also enabled us to build on the foundations laid by past generations. Without their contributions we would have achieved nothing and would most likely still reside in caves, if we had ever done so.

Collective structure is required as much as individual freedom for our prosperity. What we currently lack is the optimal structure which benefits everybody or at least the vast majority. The current establishment is destined to fail for it disregards cyclical nature and by that I am referring to the cycle of creation-destruction.
The way to circumvent the order-chaos paradigm is to design and employ systems that maintain the ability to evolve. Democracy, or participatory-democracy as it is now known, is one such system. For its successful application by society each individual of said society must work towards that which is of common benefit.

In regards to modern society I do not identify a mix but rather a conversion to uniformity, which is unnatural. The near global replacement of educational institutes with morphing factories, the subjugation of local cultures to Hollywood productions and the distaste expressed towards the observance of wise and ancient customs are seriously limiting diversity. Another evolution promoting mechanism which few understand the significance of. I described it to the best of my abilities recently, in reasonable detail, on this page and that post should be accessible through the use of the search function.

As for living in nature our species was not designed to do so. We lack the build to outrun or prevail in unarmed combat, the skin to protect ourselves from the elements etc. On the contrary the tested method we apply is to control our immediate environment and deter beasts (those whom we cannot reason with) from entering our habitats in search for resources.

We are however equipped with opposable thumbs, vast hearts and largely unexplored minds. How we choose to employ them is totally up to us.

I just asked a simple question. Sometimes I struggle with zari's posts. Remember this isn't my first language. What some of you are talking about is social conditioning. Its been attempted before.

Whilst I agree surroundings and experience play a part in conditioning is the right message being sent out. Nothing is wrong with aspiration. Again its been tried in having most of society on a level field.

Yes some crimes are driven by envy of what others have. But violent or sexual crimes are different. Its about power and control.
{Ed033's Note - i guess anyone will struggle with zari's posts if English is not their first language.

Well depending on what part of the world we live in or country we are born in we are taught from birth about why the country finds acceptable in society and in law. For example you see adverts in this country appealing for donations for African girls who get married and have children by 10. Very distressing by our set of views but to the men of said country that's what they are taught is right. But obviously as the morally superior we say this is wrong and disregard their traditions and way of life.

Obviously in the way we (uk) set up our fundamentals requires control on the instincts of the citizen. We have to work and pay our way to prosper follow the rules and stay in line and that suits the vast majority and the vast majority in any so called democracy gets what it wants, but the problem is that the people who vote have in some way been controlled either by brainwashing people with ludicrous information that they sell of as fact or by financial insensitive (it's better if your rich under conservative rule bla bla)

Then you get the drugs our doctors give us and give our children (Ritalin etc) complete and utter joke, doctors get a rule book on what to prescribe to given symptoms! that are all controlled by what the government finances. Half of these drugs if not most of them don't work, so why prescribe them? Well they wouldn't actually want to cure anyone where's the profit in that. For example iboga treatment for addiction (heroin) has a very high success rate but then what about all the diazepam and methadone sales.

This country is mostly happy and are being controlled so I guess for the majority that's great. I'm happy great but how far would you take trying to treat rapist murderers . Can you you treat someone who has broken down how would you determine who would commit these crimes in advance?

I for one follow this rule. I don't hurt, steal or manipulate anyone but I will disregard any so called law that stops me from living my life the way I want and these laws are laws I consider are there for nothing else but to control for control sake.

I can't put it as eloquently as you but I hope you catch my drift, nice thought
{Ed033's Note - In Britain, America and all commonwealth countries, the type of government we really have is, Self Governance, we can self govern. Obviously most people in reality even though they might look adult, have child like minds and so need to be told what to do, so we have government statutes there for those people.

The problem is that the elite want to control all of us, so we don't get told about self government.

I don't know what that is to be fair ed. but what I do know is that tomorrow I will be out foraging for mystical caps of liberty and when I'm short of cash and need something I will go out and do some work for someone and keep 100% of the money I receive ( my regular job I pay 16k a year tax and that's my bit no more)

they will get work done at half price and we are all happy. Not a single person is hurt and until the government use the money I give them to my liking I won't pay a single penny more than I have to.
{Ed033's Note - No one seems to know what type of society we live in. We live in a society that is self government
and
we live in another pseudo-society where a company called UK that has shareholders, which has a language called legalese where we aren't the shareholders but everything is done to benefit the shareholders. Paying tax benefits the shareholders. But we don't have to bother with this pseudo-society.

Well badger I'm from Yorkshire originally and could go and get many thousands. I know the spots and the times. For the past couple of years I have lived near Bournemouth and have no idea where to look and also the temperature is vastly different to Yorkshire, so I usually look a few weeks after I would up north. So I'm going out Sunday I think. Will let you know.
