dont know if tis has been mentioned before, but technology is moving at speed these days as we all know so why hasnt the small things called batteries evolved all that much. you would have thought they would have found a much easier nd longer energy source than the stuff they put in those tings
huddz red

They prob have moved on but stuff like batteries are in a constant demand and that means constant money , you see my drift?.

Same theory as petrol, white goods, cars, car parts and so on. All repeat purchases and designed to last......only so long. I visited a factory years ago that made clutches for cars in a previous job. The company could of made a clutch that lasted the life of the car without replacing and had been made but was ditched. Instead they design one that spins so many 100 thousand revolutions on a machine and breaks at the correct moment but not beyond that. I learnt.a little bit about life that day as an 18 year old. Bit like finding out Santa wasn't real in a daft way. I was disappointed to say the least.

Sorry but you are wrong, I work in the electric bike industry, people are constantly looking for long term batteries started with lead acid (car style batteries) then to Nickel metal hydrate to lithium ion or lithium polymer now to lifepo4 good for around 2000 full recharges, a lot depends on how you care for the battery. Don't leave in the cold recharge as much as possible etc etc etc

Ed, didn't you say a while ago you believed an afterlife is possible because of a sudden weight loss people have when they die?

I agree with Supasub's opinions and if there is a creater, we humans wouldn't have worked him/her/it out at all, which is why I don't follow a religion. However, I think some form of conscious creater of the universe is no more unplausible than emerging from nothing.

Adam {Ed001's Note - until it is proven otherwise, I will always believe something is possible.}

Its athread from further down so thought id re-post as it is interesting. Regarding the body being lighter after death, isn't it something like 21 grammes to do with the film 21 grammes?
Could be the human spirit or something similar?

Supasub {Ed001's Note - that is why they called the film that and all sorts of people have looked for reasons to explain it, but most theories are more of a fudge than an explanation.}

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm fudge! sorry got all homer simpson then, what do you personally belive ed?
huddz red {Ed001's Note - I honestly don't know mate, it is a mystery to me, none of the possibilities stand out as the likeliest.}

Maybe reincarnation is true?

Or maybe we just join with the Force? Perhaps thats what ghosts are? People coming back as a projection of their living themselves? {Ed001's Note - I always thought of ghosts as a memory, not our memories but still a memory, as other things must have the capability to remember, even if not the same way we do. After all, it takes a form of memory to keep in a specific state, so why could events not be remembered? I can't think how to explain what I mean, so I hope that makes sense.}

Kind of its the memory of the departed.

Greetings all,

I've read the boxing match between Deano and Ed001 and found it epically enlightening but more so hugely entertaining.
Can I throw the theory into the ring which wasn't mentioned, that being that the human race is only 250 000 years old? Think it was Pye amongst others who theorises this(may be wrong).
I can say and think we all agree on the fact that we are here by intelligent design. What intelligence designed us? Was it God, evolution or some other intervention?
I do not know, but I believe we were spliced with the DNA of our creators with that of the then indigenous beings on this planet. Coupled with that we were programmed to worship our creators and call them gods.
This in my opinion is where all the differing religions come into play.
I am not knocking religion in no way, shape or form as my mum(RIP) was one of the most devout Christians you will ever see. As a child, I was dragged to pentecostal church(usually kicking and screaming) on Sunday morning to sing happy clappy songs, whilst all my mates played out. This is probably one of the reasons why I don't go now.
What I will say tho is my mum was always tolerant of other religions and even the none believers. I think if all people into religion had that view, the world would be a better place.
Forgot the original point I was going to make now. Doh!

not really my thing but have seen a uncut documentary interview with tupac called the lost prison tapes while he was in prison,not that i thought he was thick but what a very intelligent man, the guy interviewing him asked "what do you think on youth and gang violence?"he said this country was built up on gangs, and i think this country is still run on gangs democrats , republicans, the police department the CIA FBI, those are gangs,this whole country is built up on gangs," the interviewer asks what about the violence? tupac replies "its violence in america , what do USA just do flying up at Bosnia? they got no business over there,its the same thing,america is the biggest gang in the world" enough said
frankyscouse

I'll dispute the Bosnia thing. They are the worlds most powerful nation and have always taken it on themselves to act as world policeman. So there supposed to stand back and let genocide happen? Despite the founding principles of the UN and the Atlantic charter?

Other than that i agree with everything he said. The fbi, cia, police aren't really gangs they are the tools of the gangs, the real gangs are the big powerful families.

Act as worlds policemen?are you having a laugh? don't believe they hype they intervened because of atrocities and genocide ,if that were the case were have they been in Zimbabwe? the USA only intervene when it is in its best interest,The main instigators of the civil wars in Yugoslavia are Americans and Germans.But the Americans are, by far, the most responsible for the bloodshed in Bosnia,in February 1992, it looked as if the war was completely prevented by EC brockered Lisbon peace agreement,Of course, the Americans jumped in to save the war. Their final goal was to establish an Islam fundamentalist state in, what they called "the Heart of Europe." This would than be the future trouble for Europeans for many years to come,In early 1992 American administration decided to once again take over the game. It was time for a kill. America will again be at the helm of Yugoslav destruction. As we will see the key player was to be no other than Mr. WARREN ZIMMERMANN the proud "last American Ambassador to Yugoslavia as we used to know it".

After the wars in Slovenia and Croatia the fighting in Yugoslavia died out in January 1992. Mr. Vance's plan was signed and the two warring sides in Croatia were to be separated by UN troops. (We now see that America was only buying time to arm and equip Croatian fascists for the "final solution"). But Bosnia was calm. It was calm all the time despite the raging war in adjacent Croatia. It was clear, though, that the story of Croatia can repeat in Bosnia (actually, at that time when major countries of the West recognized Croatia and Slovenia, thus derecognizing Yugoslavia - it was, with that act - guaranteed!).y the war the three constituent nations of Bosnia were more and more divided by the day. Under European Community auspices the leaders of the three groups, Mr Izetbegovic, for Muslimas, Karadzic for Bosnian Serbs and Boban for Croats, SIGNED the maps of division of Bosnia, in Lisbon, on February 23, 1992. Bosnia was to be a confederation divided into three ethnic regions. And THERE WOULD BE NO WAR!

Steps in Uncle Sam. (Eager to sell arms, the only working industry of the morally and otherwise dilapidated Evil Empire).

Giving a brief background, dont belive the bs.

The US acting a world policeman, do me a favour!

Study american foreign policy or read some Chomsky. Evidence points to one strategy, make the problem worse or, at the very least, do nothing until the problem has escalated irreversibly... and then accidently bomb the Chinese embassy.

What I find most interesting about the Balkan conflict is that throughout it the Oil trade continued freely along the region's railways - all sides were taking a cut.

i'm sorry but who cares if some tory mp called a copper a pleb. Police get called worse every day. I've just saw a copper on midlands today say its an integrity issue. Really? Like the police have a leg to stand on calling other people liars. Surely there's bigger issues than this.

Don`t think many people care about calling a copper a pleb. It was about fairness, if me or you said that to a policeman we would have been thrown directly into a police cell!.

When it comes to politicians when will people learn. It's one set of rules for them and another for us. Please bear in mind this is an assumption, if politicians pay their way via the same PAYE system that we use, how can they claim expenses? If I tried doing that, I honestly think the taxman would personally knock on my door just to laugh in my face. Or am I wrong and they are paid on a self employed basis or some other magical way?

i'm not trying to start an argument here, i'd just like to know how many people believe in religion and how many do not. I myself do not, and find it hard to understand why people do.

Hit 'Agree' if you are a believer and hit 'Disagree' if you're not.

I disagree with religion, come on now, we humans cannot fathom who/what/when/how "god" is.

Energy can neither be created nor destroyed.
Something cannot come from nothing.

both of them statements apply to both God and the big bang theory.

We'll see when we die what the truth is.

I don't know how you find it hard to believe how people believe in religion mate. I myself hit the disagree button and have some strong views of the subject, however, it is obviously ingrained in people from a young age from parents and other 'role model' figures for lack of a better word.

Scare tactics such as Heaven and Hell is what it's all based around. They scare a kid enough into thinking they must do good or be punished, especially by a 'higher power' and then mould them around Christian believes. Obviously different scenarios for different religions.

I think this link aimed it up well. Some may get offended so heads up

Plain Taunt Hall if you don't believe in religion, how do you figure that we will see what happens when we die? If you don't believe in religion when you die, you die, so u wont know if anything happens. If you do believe then there is the whole life after death thing where u go up or down or reincarnated as a giraffe maybe. From your reply it comes across as you are unsure about that side of things

Sorry Ed/Everyone to take this to a footballing subject.
Anyone who visit's this page regularly will know I've got a bee in my bonnet about the current Barca era and their crop of player's including the development of Mr messi, based on the fact they seem to be all slightly muscular nippy midget's who rarely seem to get injured and can play lot's of games during a season ,maintaining amazing level's of play for an entire match.
It turns out that (banned for life) Lance Armstrong's main medical chief Dr Luis Garcia del Moral (also now banned for life) was according to his office a medical advisor to Barca over the past decade.
Only reported yesterday that Barca have come out and only denied that he was ever on the payroll after checking their record's but could not guarantee that he had not been used by the club or player's on an ad hoc basis (based on the fact his name did'nt appear on the payroll).
They added that they have just recently changed their medical set-up but failed to answer when asked who was now managing it. It does'nt seem to be reported in our country though and what does it take to get a club or player's investigated. Real Madrid first arose suspician's about Barca a few year's ago and they were dismissed as being jealous of Barca's success. I've always liked the way they pass without the play acting and face holding but I've always had a gut feeling that they've had something in their half-time orange's so to speak. That and with alleged payment's to FIFA officials daughter's account by the then chairman along with some very favourable refereeing decision's which is all yet to really come out, how much suspicion can a club arouse before it's seriously looked at? Mr Blatter?
Discuss.....

Supasub

I'd like to ad that its been described as the most sophisticated drugs programme in sport regarding Armstrong and his medical team. If it were proven that any football club has committed these sort of offences then they'd surely be stripped of titles. Personally I think it may be rife in football more so in some countries especially in Italy where many chairman can't even lie in bed straight aswell as Spain. It won't appeal to the authorities to scrape away at the surface unless they are made too.

Supasub {Ed001's Note - it has already been proven to exist in Italy, it was mostly swept under the carpet rather than dealt with.}

I always had an inkling that they were cheating. But in more conventional ways (bribing referees, etc)

Well the diving and rolling around clutching their faces was bad enough. Then comes all the dodgy decisions, largely against english clubs.

I doubt anything will ever happen, but agreed would be entertaining.

Ed were you referring to the nandrolone scandel in italy? Davids and a few others failed drugs tests and got sent to bed with no supper it was that farcial. {Ed001's Note - there was so much more to it, it was a proven, calculated system of cheating - in a similar vein to this current Lance Armstrong one.}

Great post Supasub, very interesting reading. I heard about the link between Armstrong's doctor and Barca a week or so ago on the radio and instantly remembered you getting banned from the United page ages ago for bringing up conspiracies, lol - straight away I knew that must have been what you were on about all those months ago! Well good work on the research. I won't believe anything fully until proven but it's a shame it's ulikely any1 will take it upon themselves to investigate Barca

if you can try and watch "the most dangerous man in america" its a documentary about a man called Daniel ellsberg a Pentagon insider that leaked top-secret government papers that disclosed shocking truths about the Vietnam War and Nixon's presidency. in fact he was part of the lies at the start,he mentions that the USA used a false flag lie that USA ships were being attacked which meant the USA could invade Vietnam and the top secret files he copied goes on to tell that that presidents Truman/ Eisenhower/JFK/Johnson and Nixon all lied in some way about Vietnam, you hear secret tapes of Nixon saying to Kissinger "we need something big Henry,lets put a nuclear bomb on them"That, I think, would just be too much," Kissinger replies Nixon replies "does that bother you?" for gods Henry you got to think big" there are loads more i could say about this documentary btw made by a independent group , so no glossing over the facts. if you cant get the documentary try read about Daniel ellsberg who gave up a very high position and a very very good income knowing that he could get sentenced for life for leaking top secret papers , a true whistle blower.

I'm in the middle of reading The Trial of Henry Kissinger by Christopher Hitchens and i'm not in the least surprised by these conversations. Kissinger who was a major influence on several presidents was as manipulative as he was cold blooded. Some of his foreign policy decisions in Chile, Laos and Cambodia were an affront to democracy but what really got me was that this stuff wasn't even well buried. So much evidence is in clear view but no action is taken.
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
I always thought Kissinger was deep throat, it wouldn't have surprised me.

Ellsberg if i remember correctly was why Nixon originally set up the "plumbers dept" to fix leaks and then excalated into house breaking and witretapping to find evidence to discredit people, specifically Ellsberg. Then bang: Watergate.

Incidentally a lot of people in the plumbers dept were connected to the Bay of Pigs and implicated in Dallas '63.

Kissinger was cute and calculating , Nixon was a latter day bush evil and as thick as two short planks, he was that dumb he tried to bribe a judge that was in charge of the government v elsberg, he promised the judge he would make put him in charge of the fbi if he complied ,the judge threw out the case and told the world what had happened , that was the beginning of the end for Nixon, hence the wiretaps and the rest is history.

Franky you do know who Nixon's sponsor was in the 1940's when he first went into politocs and who handpicked him for VP?

Our old friend Prescott Bush afther of George Sr. Nixon had long been on the Bush payroll.

I wouldn't say evil, or even thick. He was quite calculating himself. He was a very paranoid individual though, with good reason given he knew every dirty secret from US foreign policy since the end of the war. Don't forget his role in Cuba, mafia connections, and also JFK. He almost certainly knew what went on there and who. The wiretapping was to find out what Ellsberg knew and to get the dirt to destroy him. These things always tend to escalate when you think your surrounded by enemies.

I once saw a study by some psycological profilers on the kind of personality best suited to the presidency and the comparions against various presidents, the 2 highest scorers were Nixon and Clinton!
