not everyone is SYRIAN yes I agree ,once you stop the funding and arms to these murders or freedom fighters what are they going to do?
i think they will be gone as soon as the supply stops.
as for allowing genocide ,Putin is in a strong position to lay down the law to ASSAD if he remains in power about he's human rights.

ahh I see, yeah funny enough I felt that, like one week you would have an episode that was very current affairs around that time and instead of milking it for a series , they put it all in 1 show. then the next week it would be something that was the complete opposite, like a killer clown haha.

Franky, if it was just Syrians fighting Syrians then i'd agree with the suggested arms embargo. But it isn't. Isis is full of foreign fighters. Same as the later Iraqi insurgency. There's over 2000 Russians, mostly chechens fighting for Isis. Why do you think Putin is suddenly so interested. I've had it hinted that Russian special forces are involved and any Isis fighters captured and identified as russian / Chechen are shipped off. And unlike Guantanamo there will be no publicity.

So if I understand you correctly zari, you wouldn't stand by and let genocide happen but you'd be quite willing to wipe out several major cities.

Dissatisfaction will continue to exist in any country as long as people can perceive that their society is on the decline. The 'western' labelled "Arab spring" was an attempt by various peoples of Arabic countries to restore power in the hands of the people. The west which was 'monitoring' the situation hijacked it, pseudo-organised it, placed its puppets as its leaders and then approved and recognised it.
ISIS did not emerge from the vacuum. People were receiving military and guerrilla training in Jordan since 2007/2008 by American, British and Israeli military, mercenaries and agents of three or more letter agencies. Reuters reported it back then and their article was even accompanied by a prediction of a situation very similar to what we have been witnessing.
No so called developed country operates under democracy and the idea that democratic elections take place is ludicrous. As this is not the point of the thread I'll limit my response to a few points.
A) Electoral fraud. During the USA elections which gifted us with the second term of Bush Jr. one conscientious objector, who was employed by the company that was charged with securing the electronic voting system, publicly stated that he was asked to leave backdoors to the electronic voting program which he refused to do and was thus fired. If I remember correctly he was tax-audited soon thereafter. The vote on Scottish independence was a farce and there are plenty of youtube videos documenting that electoral fraud did indeed take place. I have a trusted eye-witness account that in Cyprus if one votes blank the people who count the ballots will pull out a pen and fill it in as they see fit. I also have the eye-witness account of a politician that in Turkmenistan the officials just assume people voted what they wanted them to.
B) When talking about democratic elections we need to take into account the increasing difficulty which the unprivileged masses (victims of human apathy) encounter when registering to vote. Such people encounter insurmountable bureaucracy when attempting to register, though the poisoned stream media assures us of no preferential treatment.
C) Registered voter databases. In more than one countries these databases contain names of people long deceased that are inexplicably resurrected on voting day. Quite a waste of the power of resurrection if my opinion may be indulged.
D) Majority vote. Political 'leaders' (read egotistical megalomaniacs) win elections with what constitutes a minority vote, if one takes into account the total population of the country eligible to vote. However that translates to majority vote seeing as in most countries less than 50% of the people eligible to vote actually vote. Even though the poisoned stream media would have us believe that these are unsocial people, who care not for the commons, perhaps they are people who have grown tired of watching the same circus show over and over.
I've neither been nor lived in Baghdad nor Damascus so I can't offer any emotional impressions. However, I do maintain a rational believe that war is never the solution to problems. All it does is temporarily mask the problems and pass them to a different generation to deal with.
Although this is contrary to what one should focus their mind on, there is a different but pragmatic approach that could be adopted here Kim. Through a combination of social sciences, history and mathematics we reach the conclusion that if our purpose truly is to save lives we should wipe all major administration and policy setting centers off the face of the planet. That would be Washington DC, City of London, SAR Hong Kong, Frankfurt etc. I doubt the responsible countries would care to apply this solution though.

There is some good stuff on it frankie as you know. One of my favourite episodes is "paperclip"? As well as the 2nd part of the very last one of the series. I just think a few things that chris carter come out with during the last couple of series suggested that someone or group were having an influence over him. Of course I could have been reading between the lines and misinterpreted it.

it really is a grey line what to do or not to do.
me personally would get the west and russia also middle east countries around the table and make it crystal clear that no arms will be sold to any group in SYRIA and let the people either take him out or stick with him.
like ZARI said leave it to the SYRIAN people to decide his fate.

I remember them discussing the additional spying laws which were being drafted on Question Time last year - there were people coming out with comments like "well they obviously will only use the powers when there is a real threat" or "I'm happy for them to see my records as I have nothing to hide".
It's incredible the level of ignorance among those who count themselves as educated (because they read the likes of bbc news and the daily mail!)

Totally agree. We constantly hear talk of the dangers of social media surrounding harassment etc. you can clearly see which way this is going - not only will they bring in laws to control what we say but also the 90% who are worse than sheep will lap it up and say it's a good thing because they've been manipulated to think so!

Everything Putin said was going 'wrong' in Syria was going exactly to plan. This was never about toppling a dictator in Assad but to continue the destabilization of the middle east and north Africa.
America will be next.

The whole arab spring was just such an attempt zari. Whether it was stirred up or not there was genuine dissatisfaction across the arab world with those in control. As has been said on here before an oppressed people will only take so much. Assad was given encouragement and has clung on. The vacuum allowed Isis to pop up because there are always plenty of thugs who want free rein to rape and maim and plenty of gullible idiots to brainwash.
Also whether you like it or not the current leaders of most of those countries you listed were chosen by those countries. I seem to remember Cameron Obama and Putin each winning millions of votes. Who voted for Assad?
As I've said on here before I've actually been to both Baghdad and Damascus and some the things I saw left me feeling sick.
Sure there's a lot wrong with the systems in place in Britain America and Russia. Sure personal freedom is slowly bring eroded. But some places are in a lot worse a shape.
All I'm saying is that as the do called responsible countries of the world we should maybe for once actually live up to our responsibility. Too often we've sat back and watched it happen. How many more Rwanda's or Srebrenica's do we have to sit and watch.
Once people protested and demanded action. Now we have yobs throwing paint at cereal cafes and thinking that's a protest.
As I've said I've been to Damascus. Nice place very nice people. Look at it now. Just look at what is happening there caused by sides. Is this acceptable. Do we leave that going on just to satisfy some phony ideological bullocks (right word?) rather than fo the decent thing and end it and save lives and let them decide themselves what they want
