Read discussionNot so much a coverup story but many people will not know that john kerry (obama war dog )was at a lennon peace rally in the 70s, either his views on war has changed or he was there to moniter lennon.

Dont ask me how, but I do know that the Kremlin recently had the plans out again for an update. This covers general European non nuclear, general European tactical nuclear, and general global strategic nuclear. Obviously just a contingency because of Ukraine but from the sound of it the war games are in full flow.

Sorry edd01 just seen your reply, no your right a wife beater not a role model but define a role model?my persective on ali remains the same, he went againt the system and stood by his beliefs, everyone of the named role models had vices and tend to look at the bigger picture, maybe role model is not the right word we should be using?

Read discussionI love a good documentary too, including the ones you mentioned.
My favourite 9/11 documentary is called 'the new pearl harbour'. I really enjoyed a documentary on the banking families called 'Uroko'. There is a good film regarding our food supply called 'FoodInc'. All available on youtube. I am also very impressed with Richard D Hall's series of documentaries on Madeline McCann which is available from his website.
There are so many badly made documentaries out there I only recommend my favourites. If anybody else has any suggestions I would be interested.

I have the organite about a week now and funny enough was going to write a post about it, I bought a pyramid and a pendent, I asked the lady were I should put the pyramid and she told me not to think abut it and put it wherever I want, I have had the pendent on and certain things that I would be arguing or worrying about (family stuff) are not happening, I feel a lot more calm and relaxed, also I am sleeping a lot better, could it be the organite, who knows?

{Ed033's Note - All the black eyed children info does seem to come from 1 guy who wrote a book about the black eyed children, promoting his book. I don't blame him for doing this but he seems to be the only source.

Connelly had no borders, a giant of a man in Irish politics.
He had many emenies even within the irish republican movement of the time, those with loyalties to the church. The world needs leaders like him now.
Jim Larkin to me is 1 who is unfairly bypassed, a real people's man who saw no borders, races or religion, just the haves and the have nots, not the most popular choice in a land where creed was the divisive factor.
wee foot note 007, Connolly being a Hibee, what do you think his thoughts would be on Griffiths.

Ed002 I hear you but I would be interested to know if you have read his autobiography.
A quote from Malcolm X that I think would resonate well with all the regulars here:
The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.
There is a lot more to Malcolm X than the media caricature we are presented with, but of course if he was alive today he would openly admit to helping them create it, before he moved away from the intolerant, divisive, and racist ideology of Elijah Muhammed and the Nation of Islam, who ultimately took his life shortly before his 40th birthday.

Hey Ed001, some of the games were indeed war time action simulations but that can't be said for all of them. Javelin, wrestling etc. would fall in that category but what of all the rest?
During combat training one wants to simulate combat conditions so as to acclimatize to them. For example they would want to match and exceed the weight they will be carrying in combat so as to get accustomed to the weight of their shield, armor and weapon. Why would they then play games while naked and with bare feet?
Most of what was written about the games of those times make no mention of them being designed as combat simulations, but instead claim their purpose was to promote health, coordination, minimization of reflex times etc. Those could be establishment lies attempting to obfuscate their real purpose but they could also be accurate but lacking accounts which survived to our days for that reason.
To further illustrate the contrast between the games of those times and those of today, one can look at the forefather of the modern bull fighting games. These were games in which people would have to face a charging bull, grab the bulls horns exactly before it hit them and use them to propel themselves over it. There was no sword involved and the bull wasn't stabbed repeatedly while caged before the games.
Thank you Ryan. This is something that has been troubling me for a while and wanted to share, to see if others perceived anything similar.

Yes Collins and Connolly were great men. Collins was shafted by the self serving egomaniacal DeValera, and ultimately paid with his life for securing 26 counties, but not 32.
Connolly was an incredible man, a socialist and visionary who for me would have been the perfect first Taoiseach. The manner of his execution, being tied to a chair and shot, still rankles with many Irish people today including me. I have never been to a more heartbreaking place in my life than Kilmainham Gaol. I have only been there twice, because it takes so much out of me. Even just passing by in the car, it casts an enormous shadow.
If I was to mention another great Irish man it would be Robert Emmet, who was hung, drawn and quartered at St. Catherine's Church on Thomas Street for his role in the 1803 uprising. I'm sure you are aware of his wonderful speech from the dock.
There are so many great Irish heroes, it's unfair to mention some and not others.
I'm sorry Scotland didn't gain independence recently, but in the face of the massive anti-independence propaganda, 45% was a victory of sorts. It shows you it can be done. You might have to wait 20 years for another referendum, but it will be all the sweeter when you get it.
A lot of people consider Malcolm X in a negative light. All I can say to them is read his story, and how he 'woke up' to the fact that the Nation of Islam were hate filled racists, and he broke away, and establish ed his own movement. I am inspired by his intelligence and the way he learned from his mistakes, and continued to evolve up to his untimely death at the age of 39. I often wonder what he would have been like at 50 or 60. His autobiography is a great read, and I recommend it highly.

The problem for me is. That the most inspirational people I have come across are not famous or in the mainstream media. I have imo only come across a few and they are everyday people. Not just my opinion but others too who come into contact with them. Every one of us probably come across people like that at some point. David Beckham I can understand as he sticks by his wife and kids but then again so do I. I did give it some thought and they are few and far between. Someone mentioned malcolm x. Regarding Nelson Mandela, I'm old enough to remember Mandela FC. In the football world (and I am biased) dare I say it, SAF (sorry, but more for his life guidance for younger players), Bobby Charlton & paul Scholes (who never really had a football agent), Duncan Fergusen for his charity work and handling of burglars. The only white people outside of sport I can think of imediately are not famous. Friends of mine know Theo Paphitis & I've met him myself. I know people who have worked for him who speak well of him. He has been very successful despite being very dyslexic. I admire that but I know other successful businessmen with dyslexia just not on the same scale.
