There are supposed to be 4 masonic lodges in the Vatican, 2 york rite, 2 Scottish rite, with infamous P2 being the most prominent. Does the Vatican control the masons or does the masons control the Vatican. And why is the legal age for having sex in the Vatican only 12.

The legal age is because of Italian Law. When the Vatican became a state it did so under the proviso of keeping some old Italian laws. The legal age of consent in Italian Law was 12 (now 14 i think) so the Vatican is/was the same.

Does anyone know how many crystal skulls have been found. Also what exactly do scientists think will happen if they bring them together. I watched a program about them the other day(ancient aliens) and it wasn't very informative.

Delboy.

I think the reason it wasn't very informative is because...well...there were almost certainly no "ancient aliens".

@Rikki- "amlost certainly no ancient aliens"
Not being standoffish but I'm really interested in hearing you're thoughts on the expedited evolution of our speciec. We wandered around for millions of years unable to make even the most elementary civilogical advances and seemingly instantanously at about 12-14 thousand years ago we began farming, domesticating animals, and building civilizations. Also eyewitness reports of the times as well as scientific annomalies seemingly point to unrivaled technological occurences in these ancient times. These are not schewed hypothesi of conspiracy sight but rather fact and I'm just curious to hear you're beliefs on the matter.

Note to ed: if this is too long, please just post TLDR!

@BUCK
This is actually a tough one! The wandering around for millions of years before our technological and sociological explosions is only an issue because we view it as advanced humans. By this I mean we weren't actually just "wandering around" for all this time, but the evolutionary pressures at the time required very different selective responses than to be "inventive" (such adaptations as antipredator behaviour, social cohesion, orbital convergence were selected for).

Current thought suggests that advanced social structures evolved before any major technological advances emerged. So if you picture a "caveman" population using primitive tools but having a society with structure, roles, bonds, 'rules' and - most importantly “ language, any single technological advance (e.g. fire, hunting strategies, domestication and planting edible flora) would spread through all the sub-populations at a rate so quick it appears instantaneous in retrospect.

The reason such advances can spread so quick is because they are not genetic adaptations, which need to be passed on through generations, rather they are cultural adaptations that can be transferred horizontally (across one generation), and be improved, within a single generation. Therefore if group A works out that using rocks to build shelters is a much better alternative than wood or straw, group B, who live close by and share relatives, will quickly adopt any advantageous advances and, as they will have their own method of construction, may stumble across a better method for building such structures. This can then be transferred back to Group A in the space of weeks or months. (This is why language is so important, and is extremely under-appreciated). Swap rocks for shelters for fire, farming ad nauseum.

I hope that makes sense, it's hard to explain without invoking kin selection and such. Such developments would have been occurring consistently long before 15000 years ago for instance, we were domesticating animals well before 14,000 years ago (the domestic dog has been genetically distinct from the wolf for at least 15000 years, suggesting it was being bred a good while before this time).

I have no knowledge of the anomalies or eye-witness accounts of which you speak, so I can't address them, but I hope that kind of gives you an idea of how it is plausible, within the realms of what is understood today (I'm sure people here can accept genes exist, and humans have evolved) to explain seemingly quantum leaps in human advance without invoking any supernatural or poorly-supported theories.

Sorry for the length, but it's my field!

Thanks for the respnod Rikki, I don't personaly subscribe to any particular theory on the matter, just like knowing all theories. I figured you'd have a pretty good grasp on the mainstream scientific thoughts on the matter. Admittedly I had completely forgot Kin selection when thinking on the matter, so that's where my struggle was at. Thanks

Let's end the religious debate....Adam n eve...they had bellybuttons!! Not to mention the serious inbreeding!

How do u know they had bellybuttons ?
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
Adam and Eve heard the sound of the "Lord" as he was walking in the Garden so they hid. Bible only gets to Genesis 3:8 before the whole idea of an omnipotent God is replaced by a guy out for a stroll. Most of the early stuff is taken from Egytian and Sumerian texts and then spouted as "Divine Word". As we say in Ireland you'd have to be a Langer to believe it cause it's pure bollox.

anyone think that nuclear weapons have existed before? There's some funny stuff in both the bible and the vedas. As the blast fuses the soil together and turns it to glass which eventually disintegrates into sand does this account for the sahara, arabian and indian deserts?

No

{Ed033's Note - Yes, the ancient indian texts talk about the Vimanas that shoot arrows that create a mushroom cloud. We also have fused rocks and stones that probably were fused together because of an ancient nuclear blast.}

I am sure i have watched a programe were they found a test tube buried somewere in ice and judging by the age of the ice it was a few thousand years ago,

I remember having a convo with ed001 about technology regressing in comparison..ancient Indian texts(better known as Hindu texts..a term recently brought into use to form a new religion) have a lot of stories which speak about advanced technology in weapons, communication and also medicine..

i have read descriptions of aftereffects of war which are similar to nuclear attacks and the effect it would have on man and our surroundings.. I also remember in the mahabharata there was talk of a weapon which once invoked could not be taken back..and it would destroy everything in a large area..and no life could be sustained for generations to come..the main portagonists in the epic always thought twice before either teaching it to their students or invoking it during the course of war..

brilliant read if you skip past the recent translations which attribute the lessons of the epics more towards to "religion" than life as it is..considering that the Gita the books starts with saying this an explanation on the way of life and not a hard and fast rule to be followed.. it never was claimed to be the book of hinduism..it just recent attribution that has turned the Gita into a holy book..

Regarding "Ed033"'s mentioning of fused rocks (and mushroom clouds to a certain extent), any decent-sized meteorite that struck Earth would release considerably more energy than any nuclear explosion recorded to date.

It is this energy that causes rocks to be "fused" together, regardless of whether it is provided by high-energy fission reactions or meteor impact. The difference between the two possibilities is that there is evidence for meteor impacts on Earth and throughout the Solar System. There is not one shred of evidence for a nuclear explosion pre-20th century on Earth or indeed any other celestial body.

Rikki

{Ed033's Note - That is your opinion, it is not fact.}
Agree · 0 · Disagree · 0
Ed033, mine is an opinion supported by almost insurmountable evidence. Every single metamorphosed rock on the planet can be accounted for by natural processes such as heat and pressure. There is no need for high-energy radiation or stray nuclei to explain anything. Evidence is not opinion-based.

Rikki

{Ed033's Note - The idea is that if you come onto this web site, you come on with an open mind and the willingness to look at new information and and possibly learn new things because nobody knows everything. There is plenty of evidence of possible nuclear technology being used in the past on this planet but you have to have an open mind to read or take a look at the information in the first place.}

all this religion stuff is a bit far fetched. In the Bible it says that Moses came down the hill in his triumph, but cars & bikes weren't even invented then.

Talkin about religion, i was watchin a documentry about the turin shroud the other night, just wondered what other people(you lot) thought about it?

seen a programe called the end of the line on curret tv(virgin 155) predict by 2048 that the oceans will be empty of fish,there is a massive ship capable of fitting 8 aeroplanes in that is catching fish,not everyone agrees about the date and think its exagerated but they all agree that every fish in the ocean has declined dramticly,anyone remember how cheap cod and chips was from your chippy? and how expensive it is now, things need to change.
frankyscouse

The rapid decline in large fish in the species is the problem. Most caught now are still juvenile and limiting the fishing is trying to preserve the stocks. To be fair if we stopped fishing for five to ten years the natural stock would have chance to mature and stronger breeding stock would leed to more fish. The biggest problem to come from over fishing is the rise in predators with no competition, largely the hombolt squid. Nasty piece of work that now has a major foothold. It could be the limiting factor now in preserving fish stock levels. CheltBlue

My theory about the England managers job is that Harry redknapp has already been appointed as manager and selected the squad and captain for the last game.

This would explain the appointment of Scott Parker as captain and the reason why the fa are happy to 'wait' until nearer the euros before announcing the new manager.

Obviously they want to keep it quiet so spurs fans and squad don't start kicking off...anyone agree?

Moot

Been saying this since Cappello got the boot! Total ploy and a bit of a disgrace! The FA are a complete jokes! That have double standards! Harry was guilty of tax evasion but got off and walked into the England job!

Lets face it how mnay contenders was there for the job?

I think there were only 2 realistic contenders and that was Redknapp and Hodgson, but the media wanted Redknapp and their constant calls for him influenced most of the fans.

However the minute it goes pear shaped (and it will) those same Redknapp supporters in the media will be the first to come out moaning abiut him.

Ps look what happened the last time the England manager was chosen by popular acclamation from the media and the fans, thank you Kevin Keegan!
