Evening all,
First time poster like CTR and I thought I would follow his footsteps and tell you a little story. It's not a conspiracy at any stretch of the imagination, but it might open your minds as to whether ghosts are amongst us. I met my wife (Tracy) at the start of 1987, and after doing the usual Boyfriend / Girlfriend courtship, we decided to get engaged.
In order to save up for forthcoming engagement party, I moved in with Tracy and her parents. The day I moved in, 15th October 1987, had no significance at the time, but for those of you who are old enough to remember, was the day that lead to the night of The great storm of 1987.
Watching the news that night, the weather forecasters had warned that storms would batter England overnight. We all retired to bed. However, I was woken up in the middle of the night to what turned out to be the crashing and bashing of dustbins, trees, car alarms and general debris outside in the street.
I pulled back the curtain to witness the full destruction of the storm. However, as I glanced in a more downward direction, something caught my eyes that froze me to the spot. A little old lady, silver of hair and pale of face, almost wafer thin in appearance, was staring up at me.
She stood in a nightie and was totally unaffected, if not oblivious, to the surrounding storm that engulfed all around her. We made eye contact for at least 10 seconds, and with no more than an acknowledging smile, she turned around and walked away.
I rubbed my eyes in disbelief for no more than 2 seconds, reopened them, and she was gone. I calmly returned to bed and fell asleep. Morning came, and I walked into kitchen, to be greeted by Tracy and her Mum. After discussing, even surveying the previous nights storm, I mentioned the little old lady I saw looking at me.
Amongst the funny looks and lighthearted ridicule, my 'Mother-in-Law' asked me what she looked like. I described her appearance and finished off explaining about the white crucifix on a chain that adorned the little old lady's neck.
At this point, my Mother-in-law looked at me, ashen in colour, slowly walked out of the kitchen. She returned minutes later and showed me a picture. The picture was of her mum, slight of build, silver hair and wearing a white crucifix cross on a chain, who sadly passed away 2 weeks before I met Tracy.
I obviously never met her or even seen a picture of this woman (Tracy's Grandmother). It's hard to explain, or even understand what happened that night, it was after all the first time I had ever slept round there.
We believe, she just wanted to meet me, from the grave, to give me her approval, I was, after all, soon to get engaged / married to her Granddaughter.
Do I believe in ghosts?
As from 15/16th October 1987, yes.
{Ed033's Note - Thanks dagenham gunner for the interesting story.

Cool story mate.
When I lived in Germany we had strange things happen like the kettle boiling on its own, even after replacing it because we thought it was faulty.
Keys would go missing and end up in strange places.
My bros toys would move here and there, my mum got in someone and they said there was a little German boy in the flat that had fallen to his death.
One day I swear I saw what looked liked a child on the balcony.
I'm still 50/50 on the subject though I'll admit.

Ok Dags if your in I'm in :-) this also is a 100% true story.
In 2001 I was going through a divorce and living in a bedsit which had 3 rooms on the second and third floor of an old Victorian house, the room opposite mine was not used but retained by the landladies brother who kept it as a bolt hole in case him and his girlfriend didn't work out and the room above mine at the top of the house was occupied by my mate who a few months after me splitting up with my ex wife found himself in the same situation.
I'd been living there about 7 months and my mate about 4 months, we were both waiting for solicitors to do their thing before being able to get on with our lives.
One night during the working week I woke up around 4am startled because I could feel someone laying next to me in the bed I hadn't been out the night before so I knew I hadn't pulled a girl and forgotten or anything, I put the light on in the room which apart from me obviously there was no one there, I just assumed I'd had a flash back or something to being married which I thought was strange after so many months apart, I also remembered the pipework being very loud that night something I'd never noticed before, fully awake I could hear my mate in the room above me moving around and thought because it was so early in the morning he must have had an early start at work that day so went back to sleep as soon as I could before my alarm went off.
The next evening when I got back to the bed sit after work I walked into the kitchen and my mate was sitting there I said hi how you doing etc as you do and straight away he said he was moving that night because he was too frightened to stay in the house that night, I asked him why and he said he was woken up at around 4am the night before by feeling someone laying next to him in the bed.
My jaw dropped as he explained what happened obviously because it was exactly the same as had happened to me and if I'd have told him what happened to me first I don't think I would have believed him 100% to this day but the fact I hadn't told a single person about what had happened to me that day the only way he could have known was if he was telling the truth.
Anyway I was pretty nervous that night I that big old house on my own but absolutely nothing happened that night or any of the others over the remaining time I lived there.
